Amazing! This is exactly what we needed to set up for our chickens who free range. It is a huge amount of space with just one, I was worried I needed to buy two to get my entire space done but they have tons of room! I may be buying another one here soon but its definitely not necessary for our 15 chickens. Plenty of space to be outside and get all the grass and bugs! Its sturdy and it was very easy to set up. My husband and I did it in about two hours but it would have been faster if we didn't have uneven terrain. We have already had 35mph winds and it hasn't moved at all. We do not have it hooked up to electric because we don't have a problem with daytime predators, the chickens get locked in the coop at night. The birds walked the perimeter checking out their new fence and without clipping their wings they totally respect the fence and nobody is trying to hop it. They try to stick their heads out of the holes and can't get out and walk away haha! I saw some of these non electric options for the same price and I believe one day we will hook it up to electric and I like that I now have that option instead of investing in another brand where if I did end up needing electric I would have had to buy a entire new fence. It works great and was definitely worth the money to cover such a large space to contain our chickens. Since this one is black and dark green it blends in wonderfully with the outdoors and its hardly noticeable at all. Big bonus and what I was looking for! A beautiful, well made and effective moveable chicken fence. 10/10 will buy again. The only con was the wait for shipping but it was worth the wait.

I couldn’t be happier with the Happy Henhouse Solar Fence Charger! I use it with electric poultry netting for my chickens, and it has been a total game-changer. The setup was incredibly easy—just mount it, connect the wires, and let the sun do the rest. It has been a “set and forget” system, which gives me peace of mind knowing my flock is protected without having to do anything. I think I am going to put in this setup to protect my garden from critters this year. I noticed a few negative reviews mentioning low voltage or the unit not working properly, but in my experience, this is usually due to improper grounding or installation, or improper use. Following the setup instructions carefully and having a good ground makes all the difference. If you ever run into an issue, Happy Henhouse’s customer service is top-notch and eager to help. One of my favorite things is reliable solar power. Even on cloudy days, it keeps the fence going because of the battery life, and I haven’t had to worry about manually recharging or replacing batteries. My poultry netting stays energized, deterring predators and keeping my chickens safely contained. Beyond the product itself, the support from Happy Henhouse has been outstanding. They seem to know their stuff and have been willing to help with any questions. It’s refreshing to buy from a company that stands behind its product and ensures customers have a great experience. This charger was made to protect chickens from dogs, coyotes, raccoons and smaller predators. It wasn’t made for cows or goats. Houdini is finally trapped within the perimeter — and I don’t say that lightly. I’ve felt like Bill Murray in Caddyshack, except my “gopher” has been this cat. I’ve tried everything to keep her safe. The last time she escaped, she crossed a highway. I still don’t know how she survived. She was gone almost a week before we found her again, skinny and starving. People say cats usually come back, but this one has only one eye and lost her sense of smell, which makes it harder for her to find her way home. But she can get out at any enclosure I have ever had her in until now. I even put up chicken wire ten feet high, and she still found a way out. But not anymore, thanks to the Happy Henhouse system. I set it up with a positive wire and, a few inches below, a negative wire. They’re close enough that she has to touch both to try to cross — and it works like a charm. The second she brushes it, she leaps back from the fence. I’ve tested it myself: it’s not too strong, doesn’t harm the animals, but it gives just enough of a zap to deter them. Now I finally have peace of mind. Houdini will be here when I come home.

This fence is working great. You have to make sure you anchor the corners really well or it droops. I have had issues with grass touching the second line and causing the solar generator to pop, but it has never grounded out to the point where it doesn’t shock. It definitely would work best on an even landscape. Mine is partly even and part on a hill so that is part of the issue. But I would definitely buy again.

I bought this for my chicken pen because there are many animals that would love to eat them. It's mounted outside but I mounted it inside an outdoor receptivity cover so it's protected from rain and snow. It gives a pretty good jolt, as I can verify personally and usually let's me know if it's gotten grounded or so I can correct the wiring. It replaced a solar charger that just couldn't get enough sunlight there and has saved my chix more than once. Great product, easy to set up and has been reliable.

In Arizona we have a wild critter called a javalina. It averages about 35 lbs. runs in herds of 12 - 25 and behaves like a pig, eating almost every flowering plant and many cacti. A single strand 17-gauge aluminum wire stretches 100 feet around our front yard garden. We have planted geraniums, pansy, petunia etc. and now a month after activation of the fence, the flowers are thriving! We live in the "Happiest Little Henhouse in Arizona." Also the fence passes within 8 feet of my modem so if the wire is shorted out by grass or vegetation, it sends a RF signal to my computer alerting me to take care of the "short."
