There is no real way to tell other than I still smell a musty smell when the house is closed up for 3 days and they don’t seem to help with dust. I used the Clarifion brand and the results were no smell and a lot less dust, but the Clarifion brand stopped working within a year, so I opted to try this brand. I just received these today. Giving a probationary three stars until I see if they work at all. I have plugged all eight of my eight pack in throughout my house, and I’m leaving the house to see how they do once I get back. The ultimate test is my teenage boy’s room. (What even goes on in there?) Also the back room where my dogs sleep. I live in the country on a windy hilltop so my hopes for dust control are not high, but still. You can see from my pictures the design is strangely bulky for such a small item. You will have to have a very small plug to use the other outlet on a two plug outlet. We can’t use our night lights on the same outlet, and it looks as if a three prong plug will not work either. If these ionizers work as promised, this is a small problem that I can work around. However, I noticed this right away, and I have a feeling it will be frustrating in the long term. I will also be covering the colorful logo on the front with white tape. I think a more discrete logo on the side or back would have been preferable. ... show more
