I have owned the older model with the side reservoir for numerous years. Typically I had to buy a new one every 2 years(we drink a lot of coffee) I've now owned every version and this newest model? It's my favorite. I received it today and just made a pot. It's a little more involved in actually making the coffee, but it's definitely worth it. I also love that there was a 14 cup option(which is what I ordered) it's also really easy to see how much coffee is left(the older version would be hard to see even cleaning it really well). I'd highly recommend either version these coffee makers, but I think this upgrade version is now my favorite!!! If you don't want to spend the extra money? Then you can't go wrong with the side water reservoir version!!! I'm not a fan of the third version (none of us were in the household) if you've never had a carafeless coffee maker? You won't go back after having one of the 2 versions I mentioned above!!! ... show more

coffee brews luke warm. has to sit on the burner for 15 ot 20 minutes to get hot coffee. No matter what time you put on machine you can not restart it after the timer runs down. i even emailed the company and they told it isnt "a feature if this model". i had gotten rid of the box so amazon wouldnt let me return it either. ... show more

Giving this a 3 star bc its so damn clunky. No one but me knows how to use it & take it apart to clean. Great idea for a dispenser but its noisy & clunky. If a dispener type is what your after, get a percolator.
