I was reluctant to buy this unit because of some negative reviews but decided to take a chance on it because it is comptively priced and had the fasted shipping. I'm glad I did since it's working well. Maybe they changed their short hose supplier because I don't see anything wrong with the hose that came with it. It's durable, not kinked and works well. I tested the water inside my RV with a hardness test strip and the softener is doing it's job. I also added some quick connects to the hose ends which makes setting up and breaking down a little bit easier.

Idk if I was one of the lucky ones or not but the one I got was defective. The inlet and outlet sides of the bottle are a metal fittings screwed into a plastic housing. This is bad. My outlet side immediately leaked water everywhere I checked the fitting and I could spin it with my hand it never got tight and if I wobbled it the metal fitting would come out of the housing. In short, the plastic housing was a size too big for the metal fitting used to connect to it. Thereby allowing water to leak out and the item to be unusable.

This product does its intended job but, it will need to be recharged with salt after every 300-500 gallons. My issue is with the included hose and fittings. In hindsight I noticed there are other inexpensive options that include better fittings like quick connectors or swivel connectors that make the weekly or bi-weekly recharge and disconnect/reconnect to an rv a lot easier. The included hose sprung a leak after the first time I had to disconnect it to empty and flush my tanks. It will do for now. I am satisfied overall as I now have soft water in my 5th wheel while I am out working in some of the hardest water areas in the country like south Louisiana and west Texas. Just be sure to recharge it at least biweekly because you will only get about 500 gallons max.
