  • Need Something To Bolster Your "Me" Time...This Will Surely Do It!
I decided to invest in this GYMAX/GOPLUS Kayak to add an additional dimension to my outdoor activities. I chose this specific brand after careful study of it vs multiple other brands. I read countless reviews and ad copy and watched various Youtube videos of 5 other similar brands that I was interested in and for the money and my needs, this Kayak outshined them all. Now, I bought this from the GYMAX site knowing full well that it is a GoPlus and can be had elsewhere but, I got the best price here. The Kayak arrived in a timely manner, undamaged and ready for its trial assembly...(in the living room of course). I decided to time the first setup just to get an idea of how difficult and time consuming it might be. Now I must admit, I watched a bunch of youtube videos on correct setup procedures so I wasn't actually "flyin' blind" where assembly was concerned. I did have what turned out to be a SUPER SECRET ASSET at my disposal and I will give you its name in a bit. All told and including unboxing, inflation and full install and adjustment of both seats it took a respectable 26 minutes. The "secret weapon" is a small, rechargeable air pump I picked up from Liberrway Outlet on Amazon. Look for my review on that pump as it is an inexpensive yet very capable helper. This Kayak is a real beauty. It comes with almost everything necessary to head straight out for your first adventure. What's missing??? A two stage pump (it does have a single stage pump) and drip rings for the paddles...that's right drip rings for the paddles...no biggie! Other than that, ($4.00 worth of rubber) you get a remarkably high quality, triple layer PVC inflatable kayak complete with comfortable seats tie downs for storage front and rear, a pump with pressure gauge, two skegs, 3 position foot rests, two serviceable paddles and a heavy duty storage bag to carry it all in. So, all that being said you might ask, how's it handle? In a word, remarkable! My wife and I headed to a local lake where this time I spent only twenty one minutes inflating, setting up and launching this 12.5 foot beauty! Unlike many other inflatable watercraft this Kayak tracks straight and true with two persons and the rear skeg in place. We paddled into significant head winds and were easily able to maintain the course we had set. 180° reversals of direction were easily accomplished as the Kayak responds quickly and nimbly to steering input. My wife paddled effortlessly from the front seat at times and had no trouble with the wind. The Kayak is incredibly stable thanks to the fully removable drop stitched floor which adds light weight rigidity to the craft. Chafing is a real killer of inflatable watercraft and with the floor removed it's easy to flush out accumulated sand and debris from the interior. The floor is also the third air chamber which could get you back to shore in the event of a catastrophic inflation failure. This floor was a big deciding factor in purchasing the GoPlus and unfortunately AI was no help in determining its permanence. Some of the videos I watched highlighted its removability but even deep digging into this Kayak and its features didn't unequivocally assure the floor is removable. The thing is, if you were to remove and inflate this floor to its correct eight PSI of pressure you would have a rigid, allbeit, narrow paddleboard. With it correctly placed under the inflated side chambers it makes you feel very confident in the kayaks abilities. Mine has it and I am ecstatic! The small, battery powered air pump I purchased separately is great for quick inflation/deflation of the bottom and both sidewalls. It has no gauge so I then use the included single stage pump and its pressure gauge to top up the sidewalls to their 2.18 psi maximum pressure and 8 psi floor pressure. Turn this fan around and use it to easily deflate the craft. It's a God send!!! You probably can't tell that I am just a little impressed and enthused by all aspects of this Kayak. It's light weight, heavy duty, safe, fast, maneuverable, comfortable and a sheer joy to explore in, fish from or just lazily paddle about as you enjoy the beautiful outdoors. If you are looking for a Kayak which has good storage and is, in itself, easy to store...you just found it. If you want a quality product which pretty much "has it all" at a price which won't break the bank...again, you just found it. It's a "five star all the way" winner. As usual with my reviews...I will update if necessary as things play out in the future. ... show more

  • Portable and easy storage
This product complete blow my mind of a inflatable kayak. Before I thought the inflatable kayak are weak and wobble. So I alway refuse to buy these products. Until Gymax inflatable kayak, it has three individual components including the button and two sides. The button is constructed with a strong plastic materials, and I am 165Lbs. I can stand on it, without bending the kayak, Very supportive. And two paddles are very good quality metals, portable and very easy to use. It come with all the accessories, manual pump and two seats. It can fit two adults comfortablely. Easy to inflate, I think this is great value for the money considering the build quality. ... show more

  • Solid construction, stable, glides smooth and straight
Lens Color: Red
Very happy with this kayak. Solid build, inflated quickly, very stable laterally, with the skegs it tracks straight and glides along well. I would give it 5 stars but ... it is a Go Plus, not the Gymax (subsidiary?). The paddles aren't great and throw up a lot of water (I had an immediate noticable power boost with some quality fiberglass paddles and little spray). The back rest is nice, but I had to get some seat pads to make it more comfortable. Overall, I would still buy it and it is a good boat, but definately need to invest in better paddles and a seat pad to really get the full potential. ... show more

  • Impressive craft, seats not so much, Brand is GoPlus not Gymax
Lens Color: Blue
Not sure what to think of this....ad description says brand is Gymax and shipped by Gymax. Actually, brand is GoPlus and was shipped by them from California, not Gymax location. Take note, may be a red flag. I'm 70 and have boated and canoed for decades. I decided to try Kayaking, and am short on storage space so opted for an inflatable. I did some research, and without spending $1000+ this seemed like the one. I'm impressed with the craft. Very heavy duty, yet light; stable and spacious for a kayak. I took it out for my first paddle this morning on a local river. Instructions were VERY POOR and brief. Repair kit also has NO instructions and no glue. As mentioned, it is very stable and paddles well for an inflatable as they have a heavier drag on the water, and performance (speed) in that regard is not as good as a solid craft. But that is true of all inflatables. It is a tradeoff I was aware of and was willing to make. It comes with two skegs or "fins" as they are sometimes called, one front and one rear. I have never seen a watercraft with two skegs before, so I decided to try them. Their purpose is to keep the boat tracking straighter. I soon realized why I had never seen a boat with a front and rear skeg before. I paddled over a barely submerged log and got stuck there. Since I was alone, most of weight was toward the rear. So, I wasn't going to paddle over the log as the rear skeg would get caught. I tried paddling backward, but then the front skeg got caught. Since it curves backward, it acted like a fishhook and snagged that log so I thought I was never going to get off it. Thankfully the current was not very strong and the boat is very stable, so after about 15 minutes of furiously paddling and some scary positions I finally freed myself. My recommendation? THROW THAT FRONT SKEG AWAY AND NEVER USE IT. That is a poor design. Getting in the kayak was not a problem, although with the skegs in place I had to wade in to deeper water and so got wetter than I needed to. Next time I go out I will not install either of the skegs and see how it tracks. Getting out was much harder, as I am getting older and somewhat stiff, and while sitting IN the boat and not ON it, throwing my leg over the side while trying to stand up proved difficult. Again, the skegs kept me in deeper water and made it more difficult than it needed to be. The seats: They are not tall enough to give proper support to my back. Plus, the straps that keep the back rigid would slip due to a cheap strap buckle. By the time I got back to the landing I looked like I was sitting in a recliner, and it was very uncomfortable. Summary: I like the kayak and will keep it, I have ordered better seats with thick bottoms to raise me up a bit, and the skegs--at least one of them--will stay at home. Seriously, do yourself a favor and don't install the front fin (skeg) or you could find your self in a very unwelcome situation. I give it three stars and look to getting back on the water. ... show more

  • Great quality
Lens Color: Blue
I was skeptical about this for the price, but I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality. The inner floor is super sturdy. I’ve taken it through shallow creeks and scraped it on branches and logs and have had no holes or punctures. I did lose the fins, but I’m blaming myself since I took it over so many logs and bumps ... show more

  • Wise purchase
Best inflatable kayak I have owned. First of all it is big. It easily holds two adults up to total weight of 520 lbs. The pump easily pumps air with no strain. It sets high in the water and glides easily. Many amenities with package. This is my fourth inflatable kayak and best one yet
