  • It’s ok
I ordered two of these and the first one was better than this one. Let me tell you what this one doesn’t have. It is not assembled, so you will need to know how to assemble and put it together It just comes with a basic bag that doesn’t float It would’ve been much better if this anchor had come with any kind of flotation device in case it gets separated from your boat. But it does not. It just comes with a simple nylon bag that will sink. It does function properly however, you’re going to want to attach something to it to keep it from syncing as it gets separated from you in anyway. I’m only giving this product for stars because a flotation object connected to it, and it being put together before shipping would’ve made it so much better ... show more

  • Great idea, better than an anchor
For mooring a kayak or canoe near the shore where there is a convenient tree to clip to, this thing is way easier to use than an anchor. The spring is very stiff, so I don't expect it will come loose even in a strong wind or current. The clamp connects to the boat with some kind of waterproof cord that feels as strong as parachute cord. The instructions recommend tying the cord to both sides of the handle using an overhand knot. I assume this is to allow squeezing the handles and releasing the clamp by pulling hard on the cord but in practice due to teeth it's very unlikely you're going to get it to let go. I can't think of a time when this would be necessary though. In any event, this is a perfect place for a bowline rather than an overhand knot. The clamp is made of steel, so I have some concern with rusting but the finish seems pretty robust so I think as long as I let it dry before putting it away it should be okay. The handle has a little rubber padding for grip and comfort. It comes with a thin nylon drawstring bag to store it in. I recommend this for any small watercraft folks that like to sit stationery near the shoreline for fishing or relaxing. ... show more

  • Brilliant design
Not only does the claw clamp on a branch, but the design of how the cord flows through the jaws, as you pull, clamps down harder. With this design, it's not just the strength of the spring that is holding it but literally, the harder you pull, the harder it clamps. Brilliant. I will always have this in with my kayak gear. ... show more

  • Handy
Grabs and hold branches and salt grass alike when I'm out and about fishing on my kayak. Really awesome and handy little anchor. The big plus is that it is small enough to easily store and light enough that it doesn't bog you down.

  • Good anchor grip
This is a good anchor gripper for the price. The rope is a little questionable, but so far so good. The gripper takes a little bit of effort to open, the claws aren't lined up perfectly and bind up a little. But, with a little bending it should be just fine. This is great when you are when you are on a steep drop and there are lay downs to grip onto or just to keep your water toys from getting blown away.. Good inexpensive gripper. ... show more

  • It Works and Easy to Store and Use
Great Value and MUST HAVE for any Paddle Boater. This particular Kayak Grip Anchor has a good little coated cord with it that lays nice without curls or bunching. The Spring is plenty strong and the jaws open up a very good amount. It stores easily in the Cinch Pouch it comes with. Since it doesn't state that it's Stainless Steel, I'd be sure to have it completely dry before storing it. If using in Salt Water like me then I highly suggest rinsing it thoroughly with Fresh Water and then letting it dry completely before storing it. I'll be using this along with my mainstay Mushroom Anchor. I can see this being used a lot by me when I'm fishing the State Park Rivers and Creeks here in Florida. Quicker and easier to clip to a Branch than to drop and pull the Mushroom all day. This was better than I thought it would be and DO recommend it. ... show more

  • You Don't Know You Need It Until You Have One
Here in Southwestern PA, kayaking is a big thing. People love it and will do it from early Spring through late Fall. However, we also have lots of rivers in our area and people love to kayak on them. But, once you have paddled and paddled all day, sometimes, you just want to take break and chat with friends. Unless you want to paddle ashore and get out of your kayak, this is the other solution. Just paddle up to a sturdy tree, anchor point or anywhere else where you can clip this clamp. It has a strong grip and will hold tight. The included line cord can attach to your kayak (or you could just hold it with a wrap around your wrist if you wanted) and even if you are facing upstream, this will hold you in place so you can take a break on the water. Well made. Instructions included. This would also make an excellent gift. ... show more
