I have tried using these lights on multiple occasions but ultimately I am just disappointed. I love using wands in my studio work to create saturated RGB looks. These are only 25w and I have to keep them fairly close in the frame if I am using strobes at low power. I also have never been able to get the app to work, which would be exponential when operating these lights. This has been a fairly common issue I have had with the GVM brand. I do have panels and bowens mount lights from them that I love but their app based lights have all been a disappointment. I would honestly pass on purchasing these lights and go for a different brand. ... show more

I am very happy with this GVM tube light. It is well-made, with a sturdy aluminum body. The light is pretty Bright, it offers a color temperature range from 2700 to 10000 Kelvin, and the RGB color range is also very wide. The app is user-friendly and makes it easy to configure the light plus is DMX compatible. It can be powered by either the two NPF batteries included or the AC power adapter. However, I noticed that the light will not turn on unless both batteries are mounted. I am not sure if this is a design flaw with my unit or if that's the way the lights operate. This is a fun and versatile light for parties, general use and filmmaking. It’s a high quality build that can be powered by the two included batteries or the included power supply. The kit comes with two plug in battery chargers so that both batteries can be recharged simultaneously.the light can be controlled using the buttons on the back or by using the app. For parties it has a ton of lighting effects. A dj could control it through a lighting board if they chose to. For general home lighting it can be used as white light, from warm to cool temperatures and at different brightness levels. For movie making there are dozens of effects such as lightning, police lights, tv set and many others. As a bonus you can create and save your own effects using the app. As other people have mentioned, the effects can be repetitive but by using the Bluetooth app the effects can be made a bit more random by changing speed, brightness and colors on the fly. It’s as simple as having a gaffer (lighting person) use the powerful app on their phone during takes. To use the app you have to set up a free account using your email and creating a password. Very easy to do and connect. Don’t worry about trying to figure out how to get the app because not only is there a QR code in the paper directions but it’s printed permanently on the power supply making it easy for anyone to get the app. The battery slots on the light have locking buttons, removing any possibility of the battery falling out. The light can be mounted a multitude of different ways. In my pictures I show it mounted on a light stand both vertically and horizontally. The only negative I found is that the power supply plug that goes into the light doesn’t lock in and can fall out of the unit. Not a big deal but I just wanted to note it. Make sure that the wire is secure especially if using on a movie shoot. It would be a bummer to have to retake a shot because of something as simple as the light losing power. comes in a nice carry case with two npf-550 style batteries and plate type chargers for them. can also be powered via a dc charger as well, it has multiple 1/4 inch mounting holes on the tube so rigging should be easy although it is a bit thicker than normal tubes so if you have other tube clamps they may not fit this unit. it's a nice unit to have overall ... show more
