  • More Arcade Ports Like This, Please!
Sega has followed their Wii ports of Ghost Squad and House of the Dead 2 & 3 with another pair of arcade light gun games, and I couldn't be happier. In Gunblade NY and LA Machine Guns, you fly through the respective cities using machine guns to blow up robotic enemies. The enemies are a real challenge because they take a lot of hits, frequently jump away from you, and fight back aggressively. The fun never turns to frustration and the dynamic movement of the camera and enemies ensures that things stay fresh longer than in other light gun games. ("Light gun" is a little inaccurate, since the arcade games used analog joysticks shaped like machine guns that created a pointer-based interface similar to the Wii remote's infrared pointer.) Gunblade NY and LA Machine Guns originally ran on arcade hardware more powerful than a Sega Saturn but less powerful than a Dreamcast. The Wii versions' graphics run at a higher framerate and screen resolution, but they maintain the arcade games' blocky characters. The low polygon count may turn off some players, but I'm glad Sega preserved the games' aesthetics rather than letting a team less talented than the original attempt to update the game on a low budget. These are high-quality games that remain fun with minimal updates. The games look crisp and run smoothly, they're about as fun as you remember them, and online rankings and a small set of unlockables have also been added to increase the longevity. If you long for games from a time when "arcade" meant "fast-paced and high-quality" instead of "budget downloadable game," you'll be happy with this. With some luck, Sega will release Virtua Cop 3 next! ... show more

  • NOT WORTH THE MONEY
DO NOT BUY!!!! This is "Caring Mom"'s son. I got this as a birthday gift from my parents, and I couldn't wait to play it. I beat it in less than 45 minutes. Both games. Not only was it short, it wasn't even very good. All you do is aim and shoot. That's it. If you beat the game several times and get some kind of high score, you get some other weapons to use (in both games) for when you play it AGAIN. Neither games are realistic at all; the enemies are robots, the surroundings are fake looking and your gun shoots an orangey fireball thing. And it really bothered me that whenever you shoot a civilian (which really can't be helped) he/she screams and falls over dead. Both games are remarkably similar and I would have been fine with just one of them. This would be a great arcade game, but it's a horrible wii game. Each of the two games has 4 levels. 4 short levels. NOT WORTH THE THE MONEY!!!!!! Awful. ... show more

  • 1 Game, 3 Missions, 15 Minutes
When you can beat the entire game, consisting of 3 missions in under 15 minutes, this should not be labeled "game" but rather "amusement". I've played other light-gun arcade ports, and this is by far the worst one yet.

  • Gunblade
This game is fun for a little while. It's great when you have a bunch of people over for the holidays and you want to kill time.

  • Very Good Sega arcade game !
the game has 2 compilations arcade games from Sega; deliver it to Wii fans. It's so good to feel nostalgia back to 1990s arcade era. The only small minor problems lie in they are very short, and yes, it's because they are arcade games ! So, if you are casual gamers, you might want to avoid it. Purchased $30 for this compilation, and it's so worth it for me as I love many Arcade games. I wish Sega could release Virtua Cop arcade games as I still need to get those arcade games in my collection. ... show more

  • Save the World From the Android Terrorists!
Nobody makes gun games like SEGA. NOBODY. Seriously. Anyone remember the Jurassic Park game where you tranquilized and zapped hordes of dinosaurs (but never killed any)? Well if you never played that game or the Gunblade games in the arcade then you are in for a treat my friend. Link's Crossbow training isn't the only gun game for the Wii worth playing. This one is a gem! First of all, it's not one, but two games! Those craving action but allergic to violence need not be turned off as all of the enemy terrorists...are robots! Yes, ROBOTS! Which of course is completely absurd, but is an excuse to have absolutely everything explode after being shot, and enemies keep coming even after taking hits. The gameplay is fast and incredibly tight focused (like the other great SEGA gun games. You can play with the Wii Zapper, but if you prefer the Perfect Shot as I do it's also compatible (thank you!). What else can I say? These games were quarter munchers in the arcade because they were incredibly fun, and now you can take them home and play them whenever you want for less than $20.00! Highly recommended for gun game enthusiasts (especially those like me who don't like blood and gore and shooting people). Now if only SEGA would FINALLY make home versions of their arcade Jurassic Park games I can die happy... ... show more

  • Just ok, way too short. it should have been a wiiware game for 5 bucks
Super short, only 15 minutes to beat the whole game. the graphics are terrible and the rumble on the wiimote sucks. You cant really tell what your shooting at. There so many better railshooters on wii than this.
