  • Works exactly as described
I was able to drive a 5/8”x 8’ copper ground rod in place leaving about 2” above ground in about a minute. Perfect too for the job!

  • Heavy duty driver
I didn't realize that such a thing as this existed until I found it on Amazon. I had to drive two 5 ft ground rods in and originally thought I would have to bash it in with a sledge hammer. What I didn't know is I really should have gotten one in a smaller diameter as my rods are much skinnier than the diameter supported by this driver. The other thing I discovered is that a regular DeWalt DCD798 drill with a hammer mode is not really the best tool to use with this driver. You can't really get as good a grip on the drill as a real hammer drill with a side handle. That being said, I was still able to use this driver and the DeWalt hammer drill to get it in most of the way and then finish it off with a sledge hammer. ... show more

  • Great and convenient
If you're tired of just beating on a rod to drive it into the ground, get this baby out. It saves a lot of time and trouble. Used it a couple times so far and it holds up every time.

  • Great for ground rod installation
You can cut your installation of grounding rods by 75%. This makes driving a 8ft cooper grounding rod easy and effortlessly. For easy of installation, just wet the ground prior and throughout the hammering.

  • Seems like a fine value option
Fits in my SDS driver and hammers. I tried it on some proud ground rods in my yard and will report back if it breaks or anything in the future.

  • Good tool, but make the shaft HEX shaped.
Purchased this ground rod driver to install a new ground rod for a Ham Radio antenna and power sub panel. I had to install 3 separate ground rods, so I gave my hammer drill and the rod driver a good workout. It worked well, it was connected to an old Milwaukee 1/2hp, 1/2in chuck roto hammer. It pounded through celeche (hard clay) for over 3 hrs. Two STRONG suggestions: make the shaft a HEX shaft, so the chuck jaws will have the best engagement. With a smooth shaft, it tended to work itself loose. Second, there are strange channels cut into the shaft, as if this was made for a specific chuck/jaw. There was no mention of the actual tool it was designed for. However, it worked well as is, you just had to watch out for the shaft slipping. With this being a ¾” driver, a ½” rod will rattle around in the driver’s well space. Wrap several layers of Gorilla Tape around the rod head to take up some of the space. Your roto hammer will not bounce aground as much, and it will be easier on your wrists. The Driver tool itself worked well. It took the abuse and did not fall apart. How well it works driving rods is totally dependent upon the tool doing the hammering and your ability to hold the tool in engagement. ... show more
