Description

Classic Roundneck Resonator from Gretsch First developed in the pre-amplified 1920s to accompany the much-louder horn instruments in popular ensembles of the time, resonator guitars are truly a uniquely American innovation. The Gretsch G9200 Boxcar Roundneck Resonator stays true to the design and features of these early resonators with an all-mahogany body and Gretsch Ampli-Sonic diaphragm resonator cone. This aluminum cone is hand-spun in Eastern Europe and kicks out an impressive level of volume and mesmerizing resonant midrange. A gorgeous padauk fingerboard with abalone dot inlays responds beautifully whether you are playing chords or using a slide. The G9200 lets you explore the styles of old country, blues, and early folk as well as whatever sonic innovations you can dream up. Resonator players at Sweetwater love the G9200 Boxcar Roundneck Resonator for its playability and tone.Beautifully appointed Gretsch's G9200 Boxcar Roundneck Resonator features tasteful vintage appointments that would look right

    • Gorgeous in Both Sound and Looks!
I bought this resonator about a month ago and am still getting acquainted with her. I have been able to (not all the time) coax amazing sounds out of this little lady. It's coming together now and soon we shall be making beautiful music together. The Gretsch G-9200 is a sturdy, beautiful instrument, which should give you years of playing pleasure. If you are not used to resonator guitars, you will find this one a bit smaller than you're used to. Don't worry: the big sounds you'll get out of it more than make up for its lack of size. I recommend keeping this in an open tune and using for heavy slide Delta Blues work. The G-9200 has a "warmer" sound than its all-metal companions, no doubt due to the excellent wood used in its construction. Get yourself a good detachable pickup and you will be all set for recording. Only one minor detraction: the peg on the bottom (for the strap) keeps coming off. Not sure if this is supposed to be or a slight defect. If the former, no biggie, just be careful. If the latter, no doubt a small drop of wood glue will secure it nicely. Get yourself a good strap with the strings, because you'll have to tie them to the neck of the guitar; there is only one strap peg. Other than that, this Gretsch looks and sounds gorgeous. ... show more

    • Well crafted resonator guitar
Good looking, easy ping, good sounding resonator guitar. A nice alterntive to my favorite acoustic guitar. This doesn't come with a case, so you'll probably need to spend another $100+ for a protective case.

    • Box car guitar
My husband loves this guitar. He can’t believe the sound. On Amazons site it says the guitar is EL, which I took for meaning electric, and it states it needs 1 battery. None of that is true. If it is, I was sent the wrong guitar. It is a great guitar for a great price, it will not disappoint.

    • Great Mid-Range Slide Guitar
The best thing about this guitar is its neck -- v-shaped. Fabulous! So. natural to play. The sound s loud and crisp. Craftsmanship is decent. It's made in China, but it's not junky. It's well made. Even the frets. I'm impressed. There is a subtle buzz. Pressing the strings at the bridge calms that. A perfect choice for slide playing. It's quite good! ... show more
