Ordered this to help with splitting firewood and was pretty impressed. This splitter evens lets me split logs into 6ths or 8ths so I can use the firewood in my smoker. The steel seems pretty strong; after splitting several logs the blade was just as sharp as it was after getting it put together. The open top makes getting just about any log into it a snap and lets me rotate the log for its best splitting position.
