  • Wonderful little tea set
For a year my daughter has used a tea set in the tub. She had been asking for a while for a real tea set that she could use outside the tub. I decided to get her one for her third birthday, but I could only seem to find really cheesy thin plastic ones in the store or musical ones that were not the kind if tea set she wanted. When I looked online, I found a lot of cute porcelain sets (that she would break), tin sets which didn't have many good reviews and tons of doll sized sets. I really wanted a set that was big enough for kids to use and, during my search I decided that I wanted one we could really drink out of. This was the only one I could find. Originally I had wanted a cute floral or printed set so the look of this one didn't wow me. I kept on looking, but this was the only one that fit with what I wanted. This set can go in the dishwasher and is safe to drink out of. My daughter's favorite part of her bathtub tea set is pretending to add the milk and sugar, but a lot of the sets didn't have the milk and sugar pots or they only had one or the other. This set has both. I checked out the reviews, of course, and was a bit concerned about the ones that stated this set contained a faulty teapot, but more recent reviews did not mention the defective pot. I hoped that meant it was fixed and I took the plunge and bought the set. Let me just say, my three year old loves this set. She asks me for a tea party almost every day. She plays it with her dolls, and when we want a real tea party, I wash it and we can put real liquid into it. The set is the perfect size for her. She is learning how to pour things and this is just right for her little hands. She can pour the milk and the "tea" with no problem (maybe a few little spills, but she is three, it's gonna happen). I am happy to state the teapot has been fixed and NO LONGER LEAKS. The lid also stays on. And even though I wanted a cute floral tea set, I think I am actually happier with this one. It's a sweet little tea set and ,since it is not floral, I don't think little boys would mind using it (though most little boys don't care as much as some of their parents). I did see some people complaining about the holes in the sugar bowl that make it unusable for granulated sugar. We solve this problem by mixing hot chocolate in the teapot. We pour enough "tea" to halfway fill the cups. Then, she pours the milk into the cups so it cools off the hot cocoa. Then we add the "sugar" which is just marshmallows. We pretend they are sugar cubes. I didn't want her to drink real tea so this solved both problems. I am glad I bought this tea set. It was not what I originally thought I wanted, but it has been perfect. I am so glad I got this instead of the sub par sets I thought I wanted. If you are on the fence about this set, just take the plunge and buy it. You will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Satisfied with Green Toys Tea Set
I ordered this tea set last week, after reading many reviews and contacting Green Toys. I asked the company about the leaky teapot problem which was mentioned in several lower-star reviews. A company representative responded, assuring me that the design of the teapot had been changed to fix the leak problem. It is evident that the leak problem has been fixed; it no longer has a seam around the middle of the teapot that was causing the leak problem. It should be noted that the lids of the teapot and sugar bowl are no longer interchangeable; the teapot lid is much bigger than the sugar bowl. I love that the set is cute, made in the USA, dishwasher-safe, able to hold liquid, and came in awesome packaging (even though that only matters when you first get it, it's so nice to have the frustration-free packaging! Why can't every company package items this way?) I originally gave this 4 instead of 5 stars because: The tea set seemed smaller than I thought it would be (but it's actually just right for my 2-year-old, so I actually wouldn't want it any bigger) The green plates are a lime green instead of the soft pastel pictured The teapot lid isn't as pictured (but is now leak-free!) and isn't interchangeable with the sugar bowl lid While the set appears durable, there are some small flaws that appear to have occurred in the manufacturing process. My daughter tripped and fell on the sidewalk while carrying a teacup and the plastic is scraping off a little bit from where it hit the ground. You may need to have your toddler hold the lid while pouring. It stays on with careful, gentle use, but also falls off sometimes. It could be priced a little lower (say $15-$18 instead of $20). Bottom line: Definitely worth getting, not quite perfect. I would still buy this tea set and am happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • The Best Toy Tea Set On The Market- and You Can Really Use It!
I got this tea set for my daughter's 3rd birthday and it arrived just in time. I debated between this set and one from Melissa and Doug. We have quite a lot of toys from both of these companies so it was hard to choose. This is the costlier option but well worth the price for its exceptional quality and durability. Were on day two of play with it-and she played all day long- and it is in perfect condition. What I love is how solid it is without being heavy. She bites some pieces and it does not effect them whatsoever. I have washed them by hand once already and also wiped them down with a clorox wipe. So easy to clean. I also love the size. What detered me from the Melissa and Doug set was that they didn't look strong enough for my kids and the cups and plates seemed tiny. This set holds quite a lot of liquid! Just a warning though, there are two small holes in the sugar bowl! Seriously, I am very happy with my purchase and now I am thinking of other things to get her. If you are debating back and forth like I did- don't! Buy this set! You and your child will be very happy. This is probably my daughters favorite thing now and it stays out in my living room. Until I can get her a little table and chair set. ... show more

  • Perfect for toddlers
This set is perfect for my tornado of a 3 year old. I wanted a tea set for her, but also know that she's fairly destructive and wanted to avoid breakables. I also wanted a set she could actually use, so finding this dishwasher safe plastic set is a win! I did run it through the dishwasher and it came out perfectly with no damage. Top rack only. We used it for the first time, but I didn't attempt hot water in the tea pot. I'm sure since it held up through the dishwasher, the hot water should also be okay in it. My daughter loved using the little spoons, plates, cups, sugar bowl, milk and tea pot. As noted by other reviewers, the sugar bowl does have holes in the bowl and lid, so using granulated sugar wouldn't work too well. I would opt for sugar cubes if needed. Bottom line is this is a great, washable, and useable, play set for toddlers. ... show more
