    • Works on the Caldigit Dock for Mac
I have 2 windows computers and one MacBook Pro hooked up to three monitors. I wanted everything to be controlled by one mechanical keyboard and mouse for all three computers . This works perfectly. The value for the money is great. The only issue I had was my caldigit dock for my Mac. When I plugged in the usb-a cord from the kvm switch into the caldigit dock my keyboard would not work on my Mac. I had to use a usb-a to usb-c adapter. Now everything works! ... show more

    • USB enumerates and de-enumerates during switching
I have used the PWAY HDMI USB KVM SWTICH 2x1 for a long time. I have worn out 2 of them over the years. but the 4x1 seems to switch the USB rather than enumerate as a virtual keyboard and virtual mouse. For one my my PCs that means Windows bluescreens if i switch to quickly... Thhe PWAY 2x1 does not do this. ... show more

    • So far works perfectly - no frils but gets the job done.
My old KVM start loosing USB ports, the HDMI works but the keyboard and mouse didn't. It also didn't handle well MAC mini after reboot (did not recognize the keyboard - had to connect the keyboard directly after each reboot). I was a bit concerned that it does not use external power. But for the price I said lets give it a try. It was easy to connect and small size fits in my desk nicely, the hotkey works so I don't even need to push any buttons. Switch time is about 2.8 seconds - not instantly but not bad either. No noticeable delay while typing (but I am not using it for games - it may be different for games). It is connected to Intel NUC running Linux, Two Mac mini (Intel and M1) and a raspberry pi - and works just fine with all of them. The keyboard is basic wired keyboard - but the mouse is a Logitech wireless with dongle - which works fine as well. And which is more important - after reboot all computers recognize the keyboard without and issue. The device itself seems sturdy - metal box and well built. Now what is left to see is how long it will last until it will start loosing ports and cause problem. Hopefully few years at least. We have to wait and see. ... show more

    • What a great product!
I wish I had bought this when I started working from home years ago! Before today, I've had my computers using multiple inputs, switching my monitor and then moving the Logitech USB dongle (for keyboard and mouse) to one of three USB extension cables on my desk. Talk about awkward. This switch comes with all the cables you need including the HDMI cable you need from the switch to the monitor. With the click of a button or a few taps on the keyboard, you can switch computers. This is only for those with a single display... I use an ultra-wide monitor, and it works great. Took me a bit of reading the reviews to get the keyboard commands to work, as the scroll-lock key wasn't working for me. I found the Control key works, too. Three key presses... Control, Control, then the number key will switch to the computer you want. I'm using a work laptop, a personal PC desktop, and a Mac Pro laptop. It works perfectly for the Mac, too. Only a few small issues not enough to take off a star. First, the LEDs are pretty bright, particularly the red power LED. I just covered it with a piece of electrical tape. Second, my mouse or my scroll wheel stops working occasionally after switching. I simply pick up the mouse and turn it off and on, and that fixes it every time. I imagine these more designed to work with wired keyboard and mouse, so can't blame the device for that. Probably my favorite recent purchase. I had it working in minutes. ... show more

    • UPDATED: Good HDMI KVM for the price and responsive customer service
UPDATED: This is an updated review after having my replacement unit for two weeks—my original comments below are still valid. This is a USB port-powered unit. I’m repeating this as sometimes when computers sleep, they shut-off power to their USB ports which shuts down external devices dependent on them for power. This is the case with this PWAY model—it won’t work if the computer USB ports are off. Often, using a directly-connected keyboard or mouse on an asleep computer will wake it but the PWAY doesn’t appear to perform this way. This wasn’t as big a problem with my original unit but the replacement seems more sensitive to this. I would have purchased the externally-powered version if I hadn’t already invested in this model. ORIGINAL: The PWAY 4-port KVM switch, model PW-SH0401B-1, was easy to set up and operate. I have it connected to an iMac (only switching the USB), a dell laptop and a Mac laptop. Both the laptops are video switched into a Benq monitor and the same keyboard and trackball as the iMac. However, after two months of use every day, the USB switching started to fail. At first, I was able to use a different mouse but after a few days neither the mouse or the keyboard were recognized any more by the computers. I contacted PWAY and they arranged to send a replacement. After two weeks of waiting and no-show, I contacted them again on a Friday and the replacement was here the next Monday. So far, so good as the new one is working like the original one did at the beginning. Pros: Easy to setup Easy to switch Inexpensive, relative to other KVMs Full set of USB and HDMI cables Able to use the full resolution of my Benq monitor No external power (runs off of power supplied from the computers’ USB port) Cons: Reliability—I will report back again here and let everyone know if the replacement continues to work Hot key switching—I am unable to get the hot key switching between computers to work. Had the same problem on the first unit. I tried different keyboards but no joy. Latency—there is a three to four-second latency in video switching. This is in-contrast to more expensive KVMs I’ve used that switch video in < 1 second. Note, this doesn’t include the time needed to wake an asleep laptop. That adds at least another second.
