Unfortunately he never really got producing with them but they did get him used to the idea of utensils and they finally found a set he was able to operate. I bought this for my little grandson, as he is learning to feed himself. I watched him struggle with a little spork type of spoon, that had a narrow handle and was longer. Little chubby fingers do not have the dexterity to maneuver slender utensils. They also have a hard time with depth perception, meaning they can stick that utensil way too far into their mouths, causing them to gag. This little beginner utensil is awesome…When I saw the first video of him using it, I was so happy. he grabbed onto it ( because that fat little handle was so irresistible) and went to town, stabbing veggies left & right. He even lined them up, so he could stab at them. When he brought the food to his mouth, it went in, enough to eat but not so much that it landed at the back of his throat ( there is a little guard on it, to prevent that from happening) I’m sure he doesn’t understand the thought that went into this little utensil, but I sure do!! It’s perfect for little hands. As kids get older they will eventually get better control of their small motor movements, but for now, that feeling of “ I did this all by myself” is an important step to independence….woot woot. Now if we could teach them to change their diapers…lol ... show more
