I got this to film while riding my Harley, one to the ride and as a front and rear facing dashcam in case I get hit. Found the video is great but it keeps shutting off after 10-20 minutes, especially if I'm not going that Fast. Reading online, the camera overheating seems to be the issue. But I take it the battery and plug it into a power source, it gets hot but records the full ride. I'm not a fan as that means I'm riding with the door open and internals exposed. May need something else ... show more

My son and i bought this camera so we could record in our plane. We used it for a entire week and some video we shot was 360 videos to the tune of 58 8 min videos. The rest totaling about 60 videos we shot on hero mode. The hero mode videos came out great and we were able to down load them onto our computer and watch them. The problem was when we tried to download and watch the 360 video. We tried for several days and never could get them to play. After about 6 hours of digging online and reading a crap load of forums we finally figured it out. So we downloaded all programs and set to download all our 360 videos. We started the download on saturday August 7 about 6pm. It finally finished 7 days later. Now before anyone says my computer is slow i own a very pricy and very fast laptop. As i have to use for my work. Also we stopped the download about 6hours in and tried on my sons gaming computer. Same outcome. So back to the laptop we went. So when the downloads completed we proceeded to watch the footage. The footage was great on the files that actually downloaded. Out of the 58 we downloaded on 37 actually downloaded. And the rest were nothing except sound. We bought this to video my sons first trip to Airventures and there were plenty of him talking about how excited he was to go also we have video from the outside of the plane that is now gone. So i gave this camera 3 stars because the Hero foortage is excellent and the 360 footage what we could see was good except it is jerky. So buyers beware. If you plan on doing 360 videos with this camera you can only use the gopro app to see the footage or use their worthless computer program to download. Or if i read right buy some big expensive program from a third party. I am returning this camera and getting the Hero 9 since we can download directly onto the computer. ... show more

Easy to use. Very intuitive if you have some sense of digital cameras. Eats batteries. Great quality picture/videos. 360 videos fantastic. The App is terrible on my Samsung S9. Had to reload each time I tried to use. The camera feels small and light but works very well. I love to voice command feature. Just tell the camera what to do and it work immediately. I am not a fan of this camera. First and worst, in 360 mode, the output files are in a proprietary format that requires an app to post process the video into a format that can be edited on a PC. This app will only run on a computer running windows 10 or 11. So in 360 mode it's a lot of work to get a usable video. UPDATED: After upgrading my PC to win 10, I find that the GoPro player is unable to export a video. I have spent many hours with customer support but at this time, several reps have admitted to me that many users are unable to export videos and it is a big problem. Customer support can only elevate the issue to the engineering team. They have stated many times that they will get back to me with a solution but never do. Therefore, I am forced to return this camera in favor of the install. This has been nothing short of maddening dealing with GoPro! The app for a phone or tablet is very buggy and after you get your video edited, you still cannot convert it to MP4 so it can only be viewed on the tablet. Customer support is non existent and the manual is not very helpful. Instructions for the app don't exist. In hero mode, this camera will make a pretty good video but the 360 mode is very hard to get a good video. This thing eats battery at an alarming rate even when off. If you charge up to 100% and leave it sitting on a table turned off, the next day it will be down to 30%. If you are using it, taking video's, you will be lucky to get 30 minutes before it shuts down due to low battery. It runs hot, it will get very hot when you are taking video's and sometimes, shut down due to overheating if it gets over 96 degrees F. Overall, this camera is not very user friendly in 360 mode but will take a decent video as a normal camera. For the price, there are better options out there. ... show more

I was only able to connect it to my phone than I got the camera , after that it's failed every time I tried. Hero mode 1060p60 video does look like 480p. Go Pro App is slow , interface is not user friendly. Requires subscription , total nightmare . Never more GoPro.

I like the 360 mode for photos. The stitching seems flawless. The voice command is helpful and helps with quick photos absent a lanyard. I like the toughness of the housing and the plastic protection lenses for the lenses. I’m always hiking in rough terrain and I would be pretty mad if I tapped the bare glass lens on a rock. They stick out like all 360 lenses and are vulnerable. Make sure to push them all the way down to avoid stitching errors. I have used it under water, but the light play from waves and water don’t allow for equal distribution of light which again causes stitching problems. A large plastic globe may solve that problem, but the way the lenses are offset from the center would probably again cause stitching errors due to globe distortion. I believe it’s best to use on land in rugged situations. No direct link to Google Streetview, but the work around of downloading to the phone then uploading to the app maintains the GPS data. Overall this is my second Max, the first overheated when I accidentally charged it under a blanket. Definitely buy the underwater housing if taking underwater.
