First off, this product is only really useful if you have a GoPro Hero 3/3+ or a Hero 4 (Black only). The Hero 4 has a more "touch friendly" interface when used with this display, but the Hero 3/3+ still get a usability boost from having an attached display. The Hero 4 also allows for battery swaps while this BacPac is attached, which I can only imagine would be incredible. I find this setup works well with my Hero 3+ since I can leave the display off when shooting first person, where I don't spend much time framing up the shot. When shooting third person shots is where this LCD really shines since I can leave the wi-fi on the GoPro turned off, use the display to quickly frame the shot, and then leave it running as usual. I have not noticed the BacPac putting any additional draw on the battery while the display is off. I can also easily review the shots I have on the device, which is not the word I would use for reviewing video on a GoPro otherwise. The screen comes with three rear covers: 1) a skeleton, 2) a solid, and 3) a touch film. The first two work just like the ones that come with the camera itself and the third allows the screen to be used while retaining full protection of the camera. The display also works with the physical buttons on the camera, so you can ditch the horrible monochrome LCD panel on the front for choosing settings. The carry case for the BacPac seems a little flimsy, but I really like it so far. It has room for the BacPac, a MicroSD, and a MicroSD adapter. That means with just this case and a camera, you can carry three MicroSDs (one in the camera, one in the case, and one in the adapter inside the case). I would have trouble ever filling three 64GB cards prior to having some downtime to copy the shots over to my laptop, so I really like that I can store all of this in a way that conserves space but keeps things from getting lost. Overall, this is a great little device that just makes the GoPro much more usable. Shooting blind works fine due to the wide angle of the camera, and the remote apps are nice, but there is a reason that 99% of digital cameras have a built-in display. ... show more

At first I wasn't sure because the GoPro App let's you change features and can be used as a live viewfinder (with a 1-2 second delay) for your GoPro (for free!). However, I found the app to be cumbersome because you have to connect your phone to the GoPro wifi each time you want to use the app and it's just enough of a pain that $70 seemed worth it. The screen is small and not 1080 resolution (which is fine). It's great to frame a shot (even though the GoPro has a wide angle). Also being able to immediately watch and delete videos or pictures is really helpful while you are out. Sometimes the buttons aren't fully responsive through the touch back, which had me debating a return at first. However, the more I used the screen, the less this happened so I've been really happy with it. Battery life is definitely worse than when you don't use the screen. However I've found that you use this when you are shooting video directly and just swap batteries as needed. When you are wearing the go pro this isn't really necessary and you can save battery life that way. You can also turn it on to frame a shot or preview a video you took and can turn it off the rest of the time. This really does make the GoPro more like a normal camera which is good for me. ... show more

Main reason I bought the LCD screen is when I have the 10x lens on the gopro, I know where it is focused on the object I am shooting. Before without it, had to guess where was a good distance for it to be focused and not blurry. It was a hassle. Now I can also place the GoPro down and see what I want in view, way better than saying "yeah I suppose this will all be in it" Now I know! Packaging was great, comes with the 3 doors which are perfect! Easy to clip on the GoPro! Probably will take a little more battery power, but not an issue with spares! Update: 10/2/2018 Never had a problem with this over the years! Still a great addition to the GoPro. But I never used it as much as intended. Really couldnt tell if it was focused on what I was shooting, screen was too unclear and small. With the GoPro being so wide angled as it is. You already know what you are pointing at is in view. Plus with new GoPros out with built in screen. This is only for older models. I do have this up for sale with my Hero4 as I will not need it with the newer GoPro. Removed 1 star. Still a great addition to older GoPros without built in LCD. But I never used it that much where I needed it everywhere I used the GoPro. ... show more
