  • Great compact camera!
Style: Camera Only
Once you have an idea of the angles this is a really nice camera. I took it on a backpacking trip and it was perfect. Lightweight, compact, long battery life. It takes great pictures and videos. I love how you can adjust the camera from a wide angle lens to a standard photo. Overall I think if you have been wanting a go pro but don't want to spend 400+ dollars this is a great option. I'm not disappointed a bit! ... show more

  • Faulty product, support team did not uphold warranty.
Style: Camera Only
The microphone on mine records a howling wind noise even in a quiet room, ruining all videos recorded with it. I researched online and discovered it's a common problem, so I contacted the GoPro support team, only to have to call them THREE TIMES; the first time they misrecorded my email address, the second time they said they would send a follow up email but neglected to, and the third time I finally managed to open a email ticket with their support team. It took weeks of confusing back and forth until I finally got them to request I upload videos of my test recordings for them to forward to their Engineering team. Upon doing so, they FINALLY tell me that yes, there is something wrong with the microphone. I thought, whew, they'll finally uphold the warranty on this product, but then they STOPPED RESPONDING TO THE EMAIL THREAD COMPLETELY. I've sent three follow up emails over the course of two weeks and they are just completely ignoring it. In summary, the product I received was faulty and GoPro's support team is even worse, making the "warranty" on this product absolutely worthless. I would not recommend this product to anyone. ... show more

  • Amazing Intro Sports Cam
Style: Camera Only
I've had this camera for a couple of years now. I've had two, actually. I lost my first one to the bottom of a river due to some unfortunate planning on my part, but bought a replacement the same day. It's that good. This camera, at this price point [$129 at the time of this review] is a steal. It's tiny, and the video quality is amazing, so it's a great choice for someone who likes to film while on the move. The versatility of the GoPro mounting system means you can stick this thing just about anywhere. A couple of notes: - Doesn't do well in low lighting conditions. Don't expect to get nice nighttime footage from this, or really any sports cam. You need a camera with a bigger sensor and manual settings for that kind of light. Low light performance is even worse shooting at high frame rates. Again, not really GoPro's or the Session's fault, just a natural limitation of the form factor. - Battery life is good. You'll get about 2 straight hours shooting at 1080/60 which is what I usually use. The battery is built-in unlike the larger GoPro models, and that means when your battery dies, you have to recharge it instead of just swapping it out. Note that it can be charging and shooting at the same time, so if you have a portable charging pack, you can extend the battery life significantly. - Waterproofing works well. I've never brought it down to the supposed 33' limit, but I've got about half that and it didn't seem to mind. I have mine paired with a water-resistant gimbal stabilizer, and it's really nice to know that a little rain or the occasional splash won't do anything worse than get my lens dirty. - App pairing works well. There's a little bit of latency when viewing the feed in real time on your phone, but it's to be expected and the app still works very well. It's my preferred method of changing camera settings, although most of the main settings [frame rate, resolution, shooting mode] are all able to be changed right on the camera as well. - No 4K or built-in image stabilization. You get what you pay for, generally, and those features are just a little too fancy for what is now a 3 or 4 year old $129 camera. Can't beat it for the price though. If you have a gimbal and a little editing finesse you can still get incredibly smooth footage with this camera even while doing things like biking, walking, and snowboarding. - Sinks like a stone. If you're using this in the water, you could do worse than spend a little cash on a floating attachment. Don't make the mistake I made. - Sound quality is okay. Definitely nothing to write home about, but again, that's not really GoPro or the Session's fault, it's the price you pay for the small form factor and caseless waterproofing. You'll struggle to pick up conversion in windy environments, and really anywhere that the sound is coming from all directions, but normally the audio is at least usable. Generally people running a sports cam are doing active outdoorsy stuff, in which case the audio probably won't be needed anyways. Set your video to some music or something. If sound is important to you, the Hero 5 and up have a little adaptor that lets you hook up an external 3.5mm mic, so you can get as fancy as you want. If you have a little more money to throw around, it may make sense for you to spring for the Session 5 which is pretty much an all-around upgrade to this camera. That being said, this camera is worth every cent and is perfect for someone who's looking to get started without going broke. It's not my primary camera anymore, but I rarely go film stuff without it as a backup or secondary. ... show more

  • Great camera if you're not doing some high end editing
Style: Camera Only
Great camera if you're not doing some high end editing. I actually like the session over the regular hero's. I've had issues with water entering the regular hero's and killing the camera. Haven't had any water issue's with the session. Battery life is excellent... I can surf for 3-4 hr session and still haven't killed the battery. I recommend the session for the durability, battery life, ease of use, video quality and definitely the price. ... show more

  • Good Tiny camera
Style: Camera Only
Okay so it's a good cameral. I got it for my wife who shies away from anything techy. I set it up and all she has to do is push one button for record and once again to turn it off. Very simple. It's really hilarious to attach this thing to our dog. Cracks me up the footage we get. We're watching one particular video where he is doing what a dog does and you're like -"Am i looking at a close up of another dog's back end? " YUP. Only complaint would be the same as a compliment. It's just too small oft time when trying to work the settings buttons on the camera body, but it's so small it's easy to mount anywhere. Video quality is great and phone app works well. Recommend this. ... show more

  • Love it!
Style: Camera Only
This was my first ever GoPro purchase and I couldn't be more pleased. I took this on a trip to Puerto Rico to have the ability for underwater video and pictures and it definitely exceeded my expectations. I got beautiful pictures and amazing videos! The waterproof feature is obviously a plus. It is small, compact, super light and easy to use. I used this with a chest strap while snorkeling, with the camera tilted up and got amazing shots. I like that Go Pro has an app, you connect camera and phone to wifi and can view all of your images there. It's super easy, even someone technically challenged could figure it out. Overall very pleased with my purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a decently priced underwater or action camera. ... show more

  • Great quality in a tiny package!
Style: Camera Only
I ordered a the same gopro on eBay and had a huge struggle. Also it came in to be very damaged and in terrible condition. So I bought one on amazon. I got it for 2 days later and it came perfect. The camera has amazing video quality and feels sturdy and very well put together. There is no display screen. So the only way to see what you are recording is to connect it to your phone via GoPro app. Besides that amazing little action camera for the price. Would definitely recommend for someone looking for a great high quality camera on a budget. ... show more
