  • Toy Piano Review AND TUNING INSTRUCTIONS
Style: 3 Straight Leg-Black
The media could not be loaded. I have played on Schoenhut Toy Pianos before and they are said to be the best in the business for manufacturing toy pianos. That being said, the reason I bought this particular toy piano was because I didn’t want to pay the price for a Schoenhut Toy Piano which would be $40-60 dollars more in comparison to this piano which is $79.99. I also got this piano because I am studying music in college and toy piano is a crucial imperative instrument for learning new avant- garde music. In terms of shipping and packaging, I’d give these guys an A+. This product was packaged securely in styrofoam and a box and came without any dents or paint scratches. It also arrived 4 days early when it was due to arrive 2 weeks later. In terms of the instruction manual, it could use a bit more explanation- the pictures are a bit lacking. It took me an hour solid of trial and error just to set up the legs on this toy piano as well as the little piano bench. By the way, the piano bench is solidly built and able to sustain my weight surprisingly. The music stand is a bit lacking but it can support the weight of my small mini tablet. Instructions for Tuning: Now all these things being said, YOU HAVE TO TUNE THIS PIANO YOURSELF. Out of the box, this toy piano sounds very out of tune and muddy. It took me roughly another hour to actually tune this thing to make it sound decent enough. You will need a screwdriver from your standard tool box to actually get inside the interior of the instrument. There are two screws on each external side of the piano so work on unscrewing those to get inside. You will then encounter another 4 screws inside that are holding the soundboard in place- unscrew those as well. Then gently pull out the wooden triangle shaped soundboard that contains the pitched pieces of metal at the bottom side. Now focus on the keys. Check that the hammer functions of the keys are working properly and loosely. Each hammer inside the key should have a fast ascending and descending movement each time it is pressed. It is very similar to the key hammer action on a regular acoustic piano. Also, straighten the alignment of the keys as best as you can. After you check all 30 keys, gently take a clean cloth and wipe the dust off of each pitched metal piece on the bottom side of the wooden soundboard. I have seen videos of people adding cider or sawdust at the tip of each metal piece but I didn’t. After you wipe each piece clean, use your screwdriver to gently tap on each metal piece to make sure they sound chromatically in tune. Then return the soundboard to its original position inside the piano and re-screw it in place. Re-screw the other 4 exterior screws in place. Remember to take your time tuning this toy piano as it is very delicate and you really have to be gentle in avoiding to scratch the paint. Other than that, everything else is fairly simple. • It's cute, but the sound quality is terrible.

I wouldn't expect professional quality by any means, but the sound quality is just terrible. Very out of tune. Other than that it's cute. But even my 3 year old realizes it's sounds bad.

  • Sound quality

The piano itself is beautiful but wish it was a tad bit bigger for my daughter. She is 4 and it's not gonna last long for her. As well as the sound quality is horrible. Super out of tune!!

  • This. Is. Beautiful.

I cannot even say how much I love this little piano. I had seen these a few years ago but my kids were already grown. I had a baby early this year and thought this would make the perfect gift for her since her daddy and I are both musically inclined and love music. I think the best way to get a child interested in music and explore their talents is to get them started at a young age. I looked at quite a few different brands and types of pianos and really just liked this particular look and style. I wanted something that worked without electric and something that look authentic. Sooooooo, I ordered this for my 8 month old daughter to be a Christmas gift. The day this came in, last week, my husband and I couldn't even wait to open it. We tore the box open, put this together without a few minutes and my daughter went to town on this adorable piano. The piano and bench is made of real wood and the top opens just like a real piano. I have noticed that when the top is open, the sound is a lot louder. The piano is a bell sound but it's so freaking cute! We have posted so many pictures and videos on Facebook of our daughter playing this piano and so many people have complemented how awesome it is. This is definitely one of my favorite buys for her so far. ... show more

An amazing baby grand for the kids! Made very well and looks fantastic anywhere. Sounds just like a xylophone and not a piano tho lol but overall very nice!

  • Great toy piano!
Style: 3 Straight Leg-Black
Great little piano that my 22 month old loves! As others have mentioned, the sound isn't concert quality... it IS a toy and it sound like it. But for the price, the item is really nice and she enjoys it quite a bit. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because, like a few other reviewers mentioned, I was disappointed to receive it and find the holes on top for the music stand were not in the proper place (they are too far apart) so it doesn't fit. In order for us to make it fit, we are going to have to use a dremmel tool to widen one hole so that it will fit, which is disappointing considering we paid $70 for this. Other than that, which seems like a silly and easily preventable mistake to make on the manufacturers part, it's a nice toy that is great for my daughter. I would still recommend it despite the issues with the holes on top being off. ... show more

  • Poor quality
Style: 3 Straight Leg-Black
Piano itself is sturdy enough. But the build quality is poor. The music stand doesn't sit properly in the holes. The bottom of the legs are really rough wood and the instructions showed it had pads for the bottoms but didn't come with it. The piano was scuffed in a handful of spots. The bench must have been packaged with the paint still wet because it was actually stuck to the Styrofoam. So the bench looks awful. For a cheaper piano I didn't expect great sound but my 1.5 yr old daughter loves it and doesn't care what it looks like... So I'm not going to take it away from her to return it. But I could never have given it as a gift... Very disappointed with this purchase. ... show more
