I was very excited about receiving this little umbrella after reading copious reviews from competitors and fellow purchasers of this particular one. It arrived without problem and upon opening I found it has that sticky tough to open gear lock some umbrellas just seem to have. Fine, no matter, I'll figure out how to use it because those types of locks just take skill to jiggle and wiggle open. But upon collapsing it I found it is impossible to get back in it's sleeve which is the whole point to sequester it for travel in a backpack. I had ordered 2 and the other one has the same issue. We are just going to use the for home use where presentation and compactibility don't really matter but I'm disappointed my searchust continue for the perfect compact travel umbrella. That said the quality in the rest of its construction and the clarity of print are beyond expectation for the price so we settled to keep them just not for their purchased use. ... show more

I’m bought two of these for our trip to Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Canary Islands, and Miami. I needed the smallest possible umbrellas because the packing challenge of 3 weeks for 3 different climates didn’t leave much room in my luggage. These were amazingly compact! They were easy to open and had good coverage. I was a little concerned they wouldn’t hold up to the winds in Scotland but they were plenty tough enough when I held them at each end of the stem and pointed them into the wind so they didn’t have a chance to flip inside-out. It did take a little time and patience to get them folded back and wrapped back up to stow away again. As long as you made sure each little point lined up when you went to twist it back around and Velcro the strap is closed up almost as small as when you first pull it out of its packaging. It does mean you have to be precise with it or you will have a mess on your hands. lol ... show more

I carried this little umbrella in my small purse during a March trip to Paris. It’s lightweight and sturdy and took up very little room. I used it for a portion of every day and it never gave me any problems.

Good sized travel umbrella. Folds down small big once extended, its coverage is pretty good. Not wind proofed though. It kept flipping over when I used it in a heavy rain.

As other reviews have said, this umbrella is not great. It WILL flip inside out with any kind of wind. Not even just strong wind, but anything more than a breeze. It also does. It return to a very compact state once you’ve opened it once. I will probably keep it just have as a back up umbrella. Do not buy this if you want a quality umbrella for actual weather. ... show more

Pros: Great size for individual coverage Only slightly protective for intense sun coverage due to single layer fabric Perfect size for theme park bag. We used it at Disney this week for sun protection and rain. I had it out all day. (FL heat is no joke) Con: Walmart had a better quality one for about $7 less. Fabric got caught in the frame and it now has a little hole in it. Was hard to lock open. The “click” to secure it open wasn’t quick. I had to try several times and twist it some to get it to work. I got two of these for our trip. The one with the clouds inside seemed better for cover since it had two layers of fabric. I’ll be attempting to replace the one that didn’t work great. ... show more

The small size is nice. You don't want to try to fit two people under it or you will both get wet. The description said that it would not slip inside out in the wind and it flips easily. Then you get all of the rain that was on top of your umbrella onto the top of your head or in your face.

I bought this compact umbrella and a standard sized one by a different company. The standard sized one has 2 fabric layers you can see and feel while this one claims there's an "added layer" but I believe is false advertising as you can feel and see only 1 layer. It also is thin fabric as you can see through it quite a bit in the sun. The metal boning and main rod are cheap and light and I feel like it's going to break every time I get it into the stay open position. The only good points is yes it is compact, it does reduce the sun's light because it's black (but not to what they claim and compared to my more expensive uv umbrella) and the picture underneath is very pretty and its inexpensive. Would be good for people living in areas the sun is not as strong ... show more
