I would give 4.5 stars but that is not an option. This is a solidly built heavy metal drill guide. Reasonably smooth keyless chuck up to 1/2 inch which is nice. Smooth bearings on the spindle holding the chuck. Nice large upper spindle to attach my electric drill. My ONLY complaint is that they were cheap and did only ONE SPRING which creates an IMBALANCE when plunging and tends to BIND the slides. I lubricated the slides with teflon oil and it got better, but it was still an annoyance. Nice that it has pre-set angles for typical settings as well as full rotation for any angle. Can screw into the workpiece to hold steep angles and has good grippy bads on bottom. I am going to ask for another spring to balance the slide from the manufacturer. I will see where it goes. Nonetheless I got some nice vertical holes on my project and saved me the bench space and money for a drill press. This is actually more versatile than a press as it is. I wold buy again but I need to get another spring for the other side. UPDATE: Amazon got me another spring so not the force is balanced and it works wondefully. With balanced springs, this thing gets five stars. ... show more

This drill guide is perfect for my carpentry needs. It is very well made, accurate and precise. It has a 1/2” hand tightening chuck so I can use bigger shanks compared to my old one that was 3/8 and I would always loose the key. This is one of my better buys in a while!

Great, but sometimes on a shorter bit it can't get all the way down to reach the wood. I found I could unscrew the top and pull off the spring allowing it to reach all the way down, but then there is no spring push back (which is minor to me, but maybe not for others). Still solid all around. Having no chuck key needed makes up for the trouble with the spring height. ... show more

This drill attachment turns your portable corded or cordless drill into a drill press. For repeatable, consistent drilling that you can control, this guide really delivers. The build quality on this is top notch. From the aluminum platform, to the steel guide rods, to the plastic knobs, everything is well made. The parts are practically all assembled in the box. You need to attach the two knobs that set the angle. If you use one of the set angles, you can also tighten the knurled knobs to lock the angle in place. There's a section on the base to hold round stock you want to drill. There's are also four guide marks to align with any marks you make. The two guide rods allow the chuck to slide smoothly down to the surface you want to drill. One rod has a spring to assist rising the chuck and drill after use. The other has a depth guide block you can set. It really has everything you could want out of a drill guide. To use, the instructions are written well and easy to understand. After assembly, you attach your drill bit to the guide's chuck and set your angle. Then, you attach your drill with a ½" chuck to the chuck on the guide. Align everything over the material you want to drill then pull the trigger on your drill and lower it. It's well balanced and did stand up without tipping but don't go knocking it around. Given the alignment markings and design, it's very accurate. If you take the time and draw everything out on your material, you can line everything up and get accurate results. This is great to use for any project. From the ease of setup to ease of use, it ticks all the boxes for what you could want. It moves smoothly, has a stable base, let's you perform repeatable drilling, and is built to last. This exceeded my expectations as a drill guide and is a welcome addition to my workbench. Stop looking at other guides and get this one. I'm more than happy with this. ... show more
