They are not 8.5 inches across. They’re 7.25 inches across. The box they came in stated 7.25 inches and I measured to verify. However, here on the website, it clearly says they’re 8.5 inches and that’s the size I needed. At this point, I've only put in the china cabinet. I love the look of them. I do hope they wash well, as I'm a little worried about the edge detail, but they are exactly what I was looking for, and a great price!

The 7.25" dimension INCLUDES the beads around the edge of the plate. Buyers be aware that the functional part of the plate is smaller, actually 6.5". Still a nice plate, just smaller than I thought.
