  • So Inspiring!
Format: Paperback
God's Smuggler by Brother Andrew was an incredible true story. Andrew grew up in a very poor family in Nazi-occupied Holland. It's a journey from unbelief to becoming a Bible smuggler behind the Iron Curtain which was dangerous. Early in his life, he rebelled against God and then returned back to Him. Because of Andrew and others that joined his team, they were able to distribute millions of Bibles in Communist countries. The incredible stories of how God moved and provided along every step were so inspiring as Andrew trusted God for his every need. The prices they were willing to pay to profess Christ was humbling. Such a testimony of how we should live out our faith as believers. He was willing to do whatever it took, at all costs, to provide the Word to those without Bibles. The power of prayer was so evident that it jumped off the pages stirring my heart to conviction! Reading about the persecuted church brought tears of thankfulness because we take for granted the privilege of freely worshiping together with other believers!! They had complete dependence on God and were willing even to be imprisoned. I highly recommend this book. The power of God is laced throughout this entire book. 'I hope that my life demonstrates that there is no more exciting mission than following Jesus wherever He leads me.'.... Brother Andrew ... show more

  • A Thrilling Lesson in Trust and God's Provision
At the recommendation of one of my friends I purchased and read "God's Smuggler," by Brother Andrew - his real name is not revealed due to the clandestine nature of his activities. What a book! It was good timing as well since I have recently gone into vocational missions. Brother Andrew grew up in The Netherlands during the Second World War and the book starts when he was just a little boy during that time. As he grew older, the iron curtain fell on Europe and with it much spiritual darkness and famine. Andrew took it upon himself to visit Christians and churches in the communist countries of Europe to bring greetings to them, encourage them, and bring them something very few had or had access to: Bibles. Not too complicated at face value is it? Well not until you add that bring in Bibles was illegal, holding a real church service (not simply a puppet church, bowing to the state), was illegal, Andrew was poor, etc. etc. The book is packed full of drama, amazing stories of God's provision for Andrew, his family and the Christians of the communist bloc. I found I could identify with Brother Andrew. While I haven't done anything clandestine yet, I have made a trip to an Islamic Republic (with a suitcase full of books no less!) and met with Christians there, some in secret, some in public. Andrew had struggles as well. He wasn't perfect. It sure would be disheartening to find that missionary role models had it all together! But what an inspiration to trust the Lord. Reading Andrew's story opened my eyes to the need for more and more trust, and more and more prayer. I heartily recommend this book. It's a short, easy read. Definitely a page turner. Not sure if buying it at full price is worth it though unless you plan to turn around and give it to others or sell it. ... show more

  • Amazing Faith
Format: Kindle
A messenger of God, his whole life from the day he opened his Bible. I always believe in God’s miracles according to his plans… Brother Andrew testifies how God has made it possible for him to carry out his missions. Brother Andrew places his trust in God and that faith takes him to Communist, Islamic, and Muslim territories. God makes it clear that his mission is to strengthen Christianity where countries are leaving it to die.. Amazing to realize how blessed we are to follow our God openly. Where in other countries pastors don’t even own a Bible. His ministry started by, realizing peoples need for Bibles in these countries. He goes on to explain The treacherous and life-threatening tactics of the government in order to erase Christianity and treat the state as if it were their God .. Wow! The simple gift of a Bible is so life-changing to these people , utterly amazing. In the Soviet Union, he has to drive down back roads and pray that he doesn’t get caught delivering Bibles to pastors of the small Christian communities. The Bible is treated as if it is contraband. His trip to China is a-whole other story in itself. The man is a saint and has done, wonderful deeds his whole life, God had plans for him . God has plans for all of us. We just need to listen. 🙏🏼💜 ... show more

  • The royal way
Format: Kindle
Good has a plan for all of his children. I, having been raised Methodist but having no strong convictions in the church, am moved by brother Andrew's journey of pursuing what he felt was not only his duty but his just and holy cause. If I were to try and convert someone to my faith or how I see God in my life, I would point them to this book first and say, "this is how people of God should pursue His will." ... show more
