Description

Some books just analyze and separate. This one synthesizes and puts back together things that never should have been separated--while fully recognizing the busyness and endless options of our lives. Trust Kevin Goodrich to be asolid and very creative spiritual guide! Fr. Richard Rohr, O.F.M. Center for Action and Contemplation Albuquerque, New Mexico Canon Goodrich offers in Cell Phone Spirituality a simple, yet not simplistic, primer on the Christian spiritual life. His creative approach applies incarnational theological insights to the circumstances of everyday life. Those interested in promoting the ministry of the laity in the world and the concept of discipleship will find it a useful tool. The Rt. Rev. Michael G. Smith Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of North Dakota Through Father Goodrichs eyes, I could see how items such as cell phones that I have found as distractions can be seen as means of connecting us both to each other and to God. Cell Phone Spirituality rings true to me as it offers practical suggestions on how one can talk to God in our 24/7 techno savvy culture. Becky Garrison Senior Contributing Editor, The Wittenburg Door I found Cell Phone Spirituality to be a fun read with a modern twist on how to stay connected to your spirituality and to God, especially in our fast paced world! I really like how Goodrich designed the book to be used for personal growth, or for small group discussions. Cant wait to share it! Stacey Reid Busy Mother of Five A book for anyone who wants to grow spiritually and become closer to God. Read more

  • Clear, easy to read and useful
Clear, easy to read and useful. Although I take issue with some of his assumptions, I still find the book constructive and useful.

Through Fr. Goodrich's eyes, I could see how items such as cell phones that I have found as distractions can be seen as means of connecting us both to each other and to God. Cell Phone Spirituality rings true to me as it offers practical suggestions on how one can talk to to God in our 24/7 techno savvy culture. In particular, he takes the well worn phrase WWJD and helps his readers see through the lens of WWJS (What Would Jesus See?), a tool that helped me to see my life through the eyes of Christ and not my own self-perception. ... show more

  • Transcendence within technology
Just as Jesus took ordinary things like a mustard seed to illumine our life of faith, so Father Goodrich uses the metaphor of a cell phone to bring our daily life into the light of God's desire to be with us at all times. 2 Tim 1:10 tells us, "to bring life to Light through the Gospel". This is what Father Goodrich does with remarkable clarity and insight. In Cell Phone Spirituality, the experience of transcendence within technology is put into the practical terms of daily life. ... show more

  • Can You Hear Him Now?
What a timely metaphor for communication with God--the cell phone! This little book will leave a lasting, positive impression on the reader. When God calls, do we let him go into voice mail? Do we view Caller ID and merely ignore the call? Or do we quickly acknowledge the contact? While this book addresses very practical and timely issues in the Christian Life (e.g., How should a Christian really view the political spectrum?) it is the cleverly woven references to cell phone communication that makes Father Goodrich's book so relevant to the challenges of living the Christian Life in the 21st Century. It is an excellent read and would be a great choice for a book study, as each chapter has discussion questions at the end. ... show more

  • Finding the Divine Perspective
A must read for people who are busy, overwhelmed and always on the run. Goodrich's advice about taking the time to slow down in order to experience the divine presence that permeates the world, is a life enhancing message for today. Father Goodrich uses contempory language to appeal to people from all generations and spiritual backgrounds. The writing style and stories make for a refreshing read that engages the reader from the start. A great book for small group studies. ... show more

  • WOW GOD'S NOT JUST FOR SUNDAYS
I thought that this was a very interactive and informative book. The questions at the end of the chapters were great, they were able to make me look at things in a different light. Pastor Goodrich brings a fresh view of everyday church, religion, and spirituality. I liked being able to relate some of my situations to things in this book and I will have a new positive view about new situations that pop up. ... show more
