  • Awesome product for a dedicated Poke-hunter!
I owned the original Pokémon Go Plus, and have to say this is a nice upgrade! Firstly, it's much more stylish looking, it could pass for a watch and an adult can get away without looking dorky (even if we ARE dorky for playing this game...). Second, I find it functionally better in that when in range of a Pokémon, gym or Poké-stop, it just works automatically!! No more pressing a button each time to make it work. You can turn the vibration off as well as make it silent. It feels a bit "pay to win", but then isn't that what we're paying for?? Lol. An over-looked component is the stardust... If you're a serious player and upgrade your Pokémon a lot, stardust can be too slow to come by, this device helps fix that! With the automated spinning of stops and catching, it's like stardust "passive income", it just accumulates on its own. To get the most of this item, make sure you have a lot of item space, Pokémon storage and LOTS or red-balls! You'll need to go through your Pokemon from time to time to get rid of the ones you don't want. You'll also want to destroy and items in your bag you don't want to keep to make room for the ones you do. Is this for you? Is it worth buying? If you don't have regular access to Poké-stops/gyms to get items from, you probably won't get enough items to really keep the cycle going. I used to work next to a stop, and then I moved to a different state and live in an apartment complex with BOTH a stop and gym in range4 of my home!! I'm golden and this is awesome for me!! Even if you can fill up on items while working, then use them when you're free, it's worth it. Other idea is to walk around parks or malls with lots of gyms and stops, and you can make good use of this. You can turn different functions on and off within the app so you can collect resources to fill your bag without catching Pokémon, or if you're full, can set to JUST catch Pokémon, or even to ONLY catch Pokémon you don't have!! Just keep in mind, if you have a pretty good collection, you may not be catching anything because the remaining ones are hard to find as well as you ONLY use red-balls, which have the lowest catch rate of the balls. Disadvantages... Frequent disconnects like experienced with the original Pokémon Go Plus is still a thing. I think part of it is a timer that we aren't able to see so you can't be connected for hours long sessions and you're forced to go into the game to set it again, as well as interference sometimes being a cause. Get too far from your device, you drop signal. I also heard from other reviews that the face if the item is easily scratched. I'd tempted to put some clear tape over it to protect it, but I have yet to do so. I don't rely on the display images to do the things I need to know and my phone gives me all the notifications I need (which I made silent so it wasn't constantly making noise). In closing, I bought two of these, one for each of my accounts. One is blue, the other is red, which goes with my accounts team colors (too bad they didn't make a yellow one, maybe get gray for that). I use my accounts to knock each other out of the gym after 8-hours-and-20-minutes so I get the full 50 coins on each account each day for upgrades and remote raid passes. I recommend the Poke Genie app (I know it's on iOS, not sure if it's on Android) to check PvP IV scores to see which battle league (if any) your Pokémon are good for, as well as to join raids remotely. Good luck Poké-hunters! (Oh, and this device retails for around $50, don't pay $70 or more anywhere for this!! No reason to get ripped off) ... show more

  • Amazing Gotcha Amazing Gotcha
So I was originally looking through the reviews and don’t understand the bad reviews at all. I just got this one but have had 2 other in green and red. I have had them for 2 years and both still work great as if they are new. They do shut down after an hour but personally I’m ok with that cuz I forget to turn it off anyways. It convenient to be able to change the settings from the watch itself vs having to go to the app each time. ... show more

  • Stopped working within months, Silence from Vendor after initial contact
Got one of these as a gift years ago, used it until charging port broke, decided to get a new one when my last pokemon plus (different brand, gift) died. Had a line across the screen when charged, but worked well. After a 3 or 4 weeks the screen went blank, it lights up vaguely, but doesn't show anything, didn't mind b/c I mostly use the go-tcha to spin poke stops while driving or catching pokemon at the park and already had it set up to do so. About 3 months after I bought it the touch to change settings started messing up. It would change the settings to off when it was just barely brushed, but I could still reset it by just "counting" how many times I hit the button and which "screen" it should be on, but recently even that won't work. Reached out to Datel since it's been less than a year since I got it, have received 1 email asking for my invoice, and it's been radio silence since initial contact over 2 weeks ago. Would not buy again. ... show more

  • Pretty good. Good update from the original. Not very Comfortable. Pretty good. Good update from the original. Not very Comfortable.
I am a Pokémon Nerd like most of the people buying this. It works great functionally. I got the original catcher 4 years ago and my experiences with that one were pretty frustrating. The original one had a really bad charger which would not always fully seat and so he battery which usually lasted only 1.5 hours, would be dead when leaving home. Now for the evolution. The screen is great. I rarely use it or look at it, but it looks really cool when it turns on. Charger: Mixed. It charges MUCH better than the original one, but the idiot who designed a usb charger into the strap should have lost his job. The design is such a huge flaw. So many people have had this crucial part break. I purchased a 3 year warranty from Amazon to protect me in case it fails. It seems to charge and play at the same time which the original one did not always do. So better. Comfort: It is bad. Really bad. The most uncomfortable watch I have worn in years. It is a very strange shape and so it pushes hard on the wrist bone that pops out. This makes it not comfortable to wear all day. I was thinking I would wear it with my google watch on my left wrist but because of the pain I had to put it on my right wrist. Not the best but this does not have a clock so I cannot use it as a wristwatch. Missing Features: A watch! I read online that they added a watch to it. I was happy because I am one of those people who does like wearing a wristwatch. Well, this does not have that feature so bummer :( Performance: It catches well. Maybe just a bit better than my original one or about the same. It still disconnects automatically after about 45 minutes to an hour. So you will need to go back to the app and reconnect it. I sure wish these would auto reconnect when you click the button in the app. Having to accept he Bluetooth connection each time is a pain. With the original one I would sometimes spend 10-15 minutes to get it connected. This one, seems to work flawlessly on the first try. It is very stable. Glitches: It will randomly turn off features. With the big screen it is not as big of a deal as the previous model. You just need to watch your screen and see if it is catching or not. If not, just scroll through the list of options and long hold on the one that was switched. It seems to rotate to the screen also a lot. Minor annoyance. Battery Life: 4ish hours of active play is what I have seen. I AM SUPER happy with this. There has only been one day that it died and it was when I had multiple long layovers in the airport. 6 hours total of layovers and it died about 4 hours in. I had my spare old one that I switched to for the rest of the day. Drawbacks/Reasons to not buy: Comfort and the charging port. The charging port was the main reason I was thinking about not buying it. I wish there was another model that had equal performance with a better charger, and a similar price. Why are these so dang expensive. Yes, expensive is a 3rd drawback but this is the least expensive and seems to have the best features. Overall: HUGE upgrade from the original one. I spent hours researching because this thing is Hella expensive for what it is. I am overall very pleased with my purchase. I have been playing MUCH more since getting it. I get about 100-200 balls restored a day as I drive through my city doing errands. Totally worth it for any avid player. I do highly recommend getting a warranty plan on it though. I went with the one that Amazon runs instead of the main competitor. ... show more

  • The girl with the curl, right in the middle of her forehead The girl with the curl, right in the middle of her forehead
When it is good, it is very very good, but when it is bad it is horrid. I loved it when I first got it. I especially liked the ability of catching Pokémon while I was at work or driving from one place to another without really doing anything. I caught dozens of shiny Pokémon on Community Day. It didn't include good directions, but I watched a YouTube video by a guy who tests tech and it was easy enough to follow. I recommended it to people all the time. The fact that the charging port was connected to the watchface and stored inside the band was great for making sure it didn't get lost, though disconnecting the watch band was always difficult and the end that you need to disconnect is poorly labeled (when the circle wears off the watchface in a month or two, good luck remembering which end disconnects), but it holds a charge a long time, so you don't have to charge it often. I originally paid $35 for mine late last spring. Fast forward to fall. After misplacing it for a couple months, I found it and started using it again. While I was trying to pull the usb part out to charge, the other side of the watchband pulled apart and broke. Okay, I can't wear it anymore, kind of my fault for not being able to tell which end is which anymore, but, in my defense, the end that disconnects is poorly marked and the side that comes off is actually so hard to take off that you can't tell you're pulling on the wrong side until it doesn't come off (or in this case, breaks). So I just carried it in my pocket when I used it. Last night the battery ran low, and I tried to remove the band so I could put it into the charger. Instead, the watchface separated from the band WITHOUT the little nub that fits into the USB port on the charger coming with it. So now there is no way to charge it anymore. I've gotten a fair amount of use out of it, and I would have considered buying another, but now the price is $50, and I was on the fence about replacing it at $35, but with the number of other reviews out there siting similar problems, seeing that people have received used ones when they thought they were buying new and seeing an offer to trade in mine, I'm greatly concerned about the quality of this product I might receive. I'm not taking my chances on a replacement. I'll miss it, but in a COVID-crippled economy, I can't risk it at $50. ... show more

  • Works Better Than I Expected!
Firstly, that you can configure what actions it takes and does not take is super cool. What really makes this awesome is that you can link it to 2 devices at the same time! My wife and I play PoGo with the kids and a lot of times we are driving or shopping or <insert adulting thing here>. Being able to spin and catch hands free is awesome! Only drawback are that you can't configure which Pokeballs you use so you risk losing out on some better Pokemon. Also, I did have an issue getting the face to flip but figure out you can do that on the watch face with a long press. Better instructions would be key here. Overall, if you play, especially passivly like I do, this is the bees knees!!! ... show more

  • Really like this product
UPDATE: The Bluetooth stop working on this gotcha evolve, we tried letting the battery die completely, and then recharging it again. This apparently reset it and now the Bluetooth works again. Since it works again I would write this five stars now. We really like these. But not worth the money when it only lasts 3 months. Had issues with the gotcha quitting after 2 months. Decided to try the evolve. Really liked the evolve until it stopped connecting to ANY phone we try to connect it to. Don’t waste your money! Not worth it when it won’t work after 3 months! Can’t get exchanged after 1 month. ... show more
