  • Give it a try if your in pain and desperate!
I don’t usually leave reviews, even though I should since I keep Amazon in business with everything I order. I have a middle ear infection for three weeks now that stemmed from having a sinus infection. I have been miserable all month. Iv gone to the dr 3 times and have been given two different antibiotics and steroids on top of taking otc stuff like decongestant and Flonase. Nothing has helped. This last week it turned into my ear essentially being glued shut and I had so much liquid not draining that my face and jaw on my bad side would swell and everytime I opened my mouth or chewed food it would cause a lot of pain on top of the constant pain of my ear infection. I was miserable and so I saw this on Amazon and decided it was worth a try for 20 some dollars while I wait for my ent appointment next week. The day it arrived I was in the most pain I had been and didn’t talk all day or sleep the night before because my face and my ear was in alot of pain. I did this a couple times and in the middle of the night I realized I could feel some air passing through my ear and then all of sudden I felt in my throat essentially the sound of when u take the plug out of the sink or bathtub. The next morning I felt so much better. I’m on day 3 of using it and the problem isn’t completely gone but it’s 10 times better. I can close my mouth and chew with almost no pain. My ent appointment is tomorrow so I’m hopeful they can help me finally kick this terrible infection. I really believe if I had this product the first week maybe it would have cleared it completely and I would of never gotten to this point of it being so infected and clogged. I reccomend blowing the ballon as big as you can , even if it pops on you. Sometimes I’d drink some water and wait to swallow until I’d blown the ballon to help get an even bigger swallow to help try to pop the balloon. If you are in pain this will help alleviate it! I’m sure if your infection or clogged isn’t as bad as mine this thing would definitely fix the problem for you. I never write reviews or even think to do a long one like this but I had to let people know especially after the miserable month I have had. I had been crying and not sleeping due to 3 weeks of constant pain. 10/10 ... show more

  • This works amazing for tube dysfunction
I was really skeptical about this product. I have eustachian tube dysfunction. My ears pop all the time. If I get any sort of sinus thing, it almost always affects my ears. I have had colds turn to partial deafness for over a month. Once I lost my hearing for almost 3 months. I've had tubes put in, then taken out, I've had nose surgery too, and I see an ENT regularly. There's pretty much nothing they can do to stop my hearing problems. This is just the hand I was dealt. I bought this out of desperation after losing my hearing again earlier this year from a cold. The reviews were all over the place. I received it and I agree that it's a relatively inexpensive thing; you get literally a bunch of branded balloons and a plastic blower. So yeah, it probably only costs a few dollars to make and it's crazy to pay $20+ for it. But if you can't hear and you're desperate, well I can tell you it works! You cover one nostril and blow and oh my goodness, the relief is immediate. I have used this dozens of times. I never travel without it. While sometimes it does take several attempts to pop my ear, it will pop it. I know it's weird and again, it's expensive for what you're getting, but the fact that it somehow is able to release the pressure is worth it to me. I've used it while sick and just for times that somehow my ear has popped and I can't hear right. So much better than praying to yawn or hoping meds work, this is something you can actively do and it works quickly. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Eustachian dysfunction
I bought this hoping to help popping my left ear that has been glued for two months. I have been doing Valsalva maneuver to pop my left ear with full force that caused my good ear hurts. I pushed so hard to the point that air passing through my good ear. Not good. Two weeks ago, I tried combination of Allegra, Mucinex, Sudafed (all generic) for a few days but my Eustachian tube didn't open. I stopped those OTC medications and switched to anti-inflammatory supplements with Flonase (generic Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray), Then, I found a web site telling why Flonase doesn't work for Eustachian tube dysfunction. It says Flonase should aim for the opening of the Eustachian tube. I tiled my head little bit to the left and faced down so that the top of the nozzle lines up to the target (left ET opening). To my surprise, just after few applications, I was able to pop my left ear with Otovent. The balloon gets too loose if I blow the balloon too big, so I keep it rather small. I needed almost the highest pressure Otovent produced so a new balloon worked the best. Otovent should be able to train me how hard I can push while staying in safe pressure region. One method I tired and worked good was push-pull. Meaning I inflate the balloon, then deflate creates vacuum by breathing in, creating positive and negative pressure, repeated quickly. I deducted one star is for the cost. The balloon's life is too short. Summary: Otovent didn't work for the for the first two months but eventually worked. ... show more
