THE SYNTAX MIPS COMBINES A TOUCH OF EUROPEAN FLAIR WITH SLIGHTLY DEEPER COVERAGE AND HIGH-PERFORMANCE FEATURES—ALL TUCKED INTO A VERY SLIM DESIGN. The outer shell is molded from a tough polycarbonate that's fused permanently to the EPS foam liner using our In-MoId construction process to enhance durability and ventilation without excess bulk. And the fit is luxurious and secure, thanks to our highly-adjustable Roc Loc 5 Air MIPS system that allows you to customize fit/feel for great stability and long-range comfort. Another benefit is integrated MIPS which can provide an added measure of protection from rotational forces in the event of an angled impact.

This Giro Syntax MIPS helmet replaced a tired Specialized S-Works helmet. (I have a fitted-cap-sized-head of 7-3/4, which the Giro L (59-63CM) did the job nicely.) Good helmets are not cheap and the GIRO is serving my helmet needs quite well at a reasonable price. The fit of the Giro helmet is much better (for me) than the S-Works, which tended to ride high and fit high on the head. The Giro fits lower and encases the head with a more snug and secure fit, in my opinion. My only little negative is the chin snap, which requires some patient attention to clasp & unclasp - and that is "no biggie". A thumbs-up to Giro for providing a well-made and market-friendly bike helmet solution. (( I ride frequently (5 Xs weekly) and have ridden 17,675 miles in the last 10 years or 71% of the earth's circumference - and still going at age 76) ... show more

I had th MPS Bell helmet for a year at L size. The sweat pad gets overwhelmd and came apart. They give a spare, and sales rep will send replacement for free. The Giro is a good alternative, I will use both now. The Giro is lighter than me Bell, so it's light weight, if not ultra lightweight. It fits more stylishly, not looking like a wide mushroom on top of your head. Someone said this Giro fits around your head, more so than sitting on top, yes. Your head goes deeper into the helmet. This may not feel as comfortable, but feels safer for sure, in side impacts. The padding in my Bell helmet is more cushy and comfortable. This helmet would be best in Winter, when you wear a thin head garment for warmth. So it's a pro helmet, as far as style, so good value at mid price point. I gotta tell you. I am a big guy (6'4", 260 lbs) with a big head and this helmet fits me. It is comfortable and there is still room in case my head grows (ha ha). Would highly recommend. Beautiful matte black.

Helmet technology has advanced a lot the past few decades. Giro and MIPS assures quality and this is a great price point. Very little is gained by spending more. Like top of the line helmets a decade back, this helmet is light, provides air flow, and is easy to forget it is on while riding.
