This was a nearly perfect shelfing unit. It fit exactly as expected and hoped. It is sufficiently sturdy while being comparatively lightweight. The bottom shelf lifts slightly off the floor, which was important to me as it is stored in a basement area that occasionally has some standing water. Keeping items off the floor is highly desirable. The shelves themselves can fit up or down to create either a smooth top or one with a slight rim to assist items to remain in place. The only exception is the top shelf which must have the smooth top with the rim down. I am using the top as a shelf, so my preference would have been that this also be invertible, but that is a small issue. Assembly was relatively easy as I had my husband do it. :-) But the notched poles do make it easy to see how the shelves must be spaced, and provides additional stability to the unit. You definitely will want to secure the unit to a wall, however. This would not make a good freestanding unit. It's too tall and too narrow for that, especially when filled with heavier items. I don't think it would be good for extremely heavy items either. It's just not made out of materials made to handle that, but for books, pantry items, moderately weighted tools, decor, what have you, it should prove absolutely fine. Boy, did THIS ever help out!!! These shelves have solved a huge space problem in my tiny apartment. I started putting the shelves together upside down but quickly saw my error and corrected my stupidity. The unit went together fast and I immediately started populating each shelf with crap I had laying around. My place is BEAUTIFUL now. (Well, not beautiful but not as cluttered.) Very happy with the look and size. The clips for assembly are not easy to use, they pop open easily. I glued the joints to secure the them and am going to glue the clips. Overall it’s a good quality product and I plan to purchase more of them. As you can see it is full and there is no wobble.

This is great takes a little time to assemble but I get a laugh when I see people uploading videos when they assemble it wrong saying that it's pretty flimsy take a closer look at the clips when putting on when the shelf goes on top of them it gets tighter Mount the shelves so that the edge lip is facing down the company sells for I think three $4 more the same unit with the lip that goes up on the edge of the shelf. It takes a little time putting it together the company gives you extra clips so down the line if you happen to take it apart to adjust the shelves and lose clips you have extras the top pole has a plug in the end the bottom pole the little screw and feet fit in I did take a screwdriver at the end of poles they have a slit in it that fits into another pole it was little loose to my liking so I spread it out a little more and fit tighter after that other than that this thing will last for you years. After I purchased the company lowered by about $3 more but I always know that an item I want right away can always go down and price if I am spending my max I'm willing to spend. I have it in a little nook area that it just fit and works better for me even though I load some laundry and some bags on some of the lower shelves but made it look nice or by adding some coffee on top. I'm limited on space and was getting tired of looking at the stuff just piled in that nook. So if you have a just a little area to put things in this is perfect. If you have a larger area or need more shelf space then you can get a bigger one. Hope I've helped. ... show more

This stand was so easy to put together. It is the perfect small size to fit in my broom closet and it could have been assembled to be 3 or 4 tiers instead of 5. I don’t have anything heavy on it; so I’m not sure how much weight it can hold. But it’s metal and seems strong and sturdy. The plastic coating makes it easy to clean as well. I immediately got a replacement shelf, but need to return the defective one which is quite a hassle because it is in a large box and I am elderly.
