Description

GHOST - DVD - After renovating their expensive loft in the TriBeCa section of Manhattan, Molly (Demi Moore) and Sam (Patrick Swayze), a young successful yuppie couple, are walking home one evening when Sam is tragically gunned down by a street mugger. Molly goes into a deep depression, but, unknown to her, Sam has come back as a ghost in order to protect her from danger-although he isn't yet aware who or what means her harm, and he has a lot of learning to do in order to make himself known to her. He teams up with an unwilling psychic, Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg), and together they try to convince a very skeptical Molly that Sam was actually murdered and has returned spectrally to complete some unfinished business. Moore and Swayze and are excellent as the couple, and Goldberg won an Oscar for her portrayal of the wild and wacky psychic. GHOST is considered by many to be one of the most romantic films of the 1990s.

  • A Classic Revisited
I will begin by being honest. I needed a purchase of a few dollars to qualify for free shipping of multiple items in an Amazon order. I had totally forgotten that I had ever even seen "Ghost." For less than $5.00, I was treated to a really fine film DVD with outstanding performances. I should warn viewers that I hate violent and frightening films. However, once I became engrossed with the story (that won an Oscar as best Original Screenplay) I became even more engrossed in the story line. All three lead performances by Patrick Swazee, Demi Moore, and Whoopi Goldberg are first rate. Goldberg won the film's second Oscar as Best Supporting Actress. She deserved the honor. She adds significant colorful humor yet she makes the scary parts credible. The movie belongs in the classics category. And, for viewers who have not seen the film since its original debut, it is definitely time to revisit this exciting movie. The erotic love scenes are prominent, but to this viewer not inappropriate. They underscore the great love between the Swazee and Moore characters. For a "scary" movie, the film has a lot of humor. The musical score is also a definite plus. The necessary ending is perfectly correct. See this great film for the first time or the tenth time. You will not be disappointed. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Patrick Swayze
I give this movie credit for probably being one of the closest ones to be made via the standards and thinking of Hollywood to give a realistic idea of what Heaven and Hell would be like after death. Hence, murderers would be taken away by demons to a dark place and decent people would be carried away in a heavenly light to an awaiting existence as the movie suggests. The roaming ghosts either have an earthly burden to fix before going to their destination or are simply waiting on a loved one to join them. Seen the movie tons. Was good for all its worth but tastes change. Patrick Swayze is a little overrated in his good looks. Demi Moore was called fantastically gorgeous in the movie. By whose standards? Whoppi Goldberg always provides with humor but even her mannerisms are a little over the top. It's a good movie, no where bearing the title of a classic yet, and there are other worthwhile one's as well. ... show more
