I saw this and thought.it looked really cool and fun. I also thought it might me literally cooler in the summer as opposed to my full face helmet. When it first arrived I was a little surprised that it came in a big paper envelope. That may just be an Amazon decission rather than the seller but either way not great and gives you a cheap feel right away. The helmet is labeled as being DOT approved and the shell seems fairly solid. After ordering I thought I ordered a size too large but it seems fine. I think the open style make mis sizing less of a thing. The liner looks like pretty cheap material so I am not sure how that will hold up. The chin strap is jus rubber with no padding. It is not uncomfortable but likely slick and sweaty on summer days. The helmet buckle appears to be pretty solid. It is actually metal and has some weight to it. Finally the goggles and neck/face cover. Both seem to be costume grade. The chrome arround the goggles and lenses are thin plastic so I think they are not ideal for actual road use. This comes with helmet, goggles and a Neck Gaiter that is 14" long. There is plenty of adjustment in the chin strap. It has a quick buckle release which is a plus. This is a nice helmet on a very hot day. Personally I would not use this on long trips or the Highway as the wind will tug at it not being a full face. I will use this in the neighbor hood or when riding my mini bike in the back yard. This would also be a nice helmet for a bobber bike or even ebike. The goggles have pretty decent lenses but they are on the more economical side if you get my drift. The padding on the goggles is fairly soft and I think is Naugahyde or imitation leather. I would not want to wear them for more than an hour of two tops. They are self venting due to the padding being wrinkled. This does have a nice old school look. ... show more

I have a distinguished gentleman's ride coming up in the spring where we wear retro looking gear on older bikes. I think that this helmet would fit the style well. I normally wear a full face helmet that easily costs 10 times more than this helmet and I have other half shell helmets for points of comparison. This helmet is appropriate for its price range. The helmet... it does not come in a labeled box. It is in a foam bag dropped straight into an Amazon box. No branding at all. That is neither good nor bad. The chin strap has a rubber chin guard on a nylon ribbon with a ratchet style clasp. A D-ring on this style helmet would rip out beard hair so the ratchet is a must for this style. I have a full beard and this rubber chin piece is distracting as it caught and pulled on my beard throughout a test ride. I unlooped the strap to remove the rubber chin piece and just wear it like a normal helmet where the strap goes under my jaw leaving my chin free. The package included a spandex gator for my neck and a set of clear wind glasses. In my opinion, the glasses look more theatrical than functional. They are plastic and flexible with foam filled vinyl padding that contours to my face. There is a aluminum hinge on the front that keeps the two sides together but flexible. The gator neck is an interesting addition that I think new riders will appreciate. When wearing this style helmet, it is common to get hit in the face and neck with bugs (or worse... rocks) and so wearing something that provides some padding over my neck is a must. So that is what is in the package. The helmet itself is a very simple hard half shell that is contoured to have the retro style. A half dome of 1/2 inch foam lining is attached directly to the hard shell. A square of what feels like neoprene is adhered to the foam interior shell and then a collar of neoprene is attached to the hard shell and contoured inside so that your head has a neoprene pad and you never touch the 1/2 inch thick foam. The chin straps are riveted to the hard shell and cannot be removed. For size, I am exactly 58cm so I got the medium. It is a tight fit and feels a little to snug. But in time I expect that it will mush down a bit to be a more comfortable fit. With that said, when I wear a half helmet, I also wear a baseball cap that is turned backwards. The cap serves to keep my hair product from messing up the inside of the helmet. I was thinking that if a M ends at 58cm and a L starts at 59cm, that there would be some extra tolerance in there. But indeed the helmet is very snug at 58cm. The hat makes it to tight. As I mentioned the rubber chin piece is uncomfortable and pulls on my beard hair. With the chin piece I cannot move my chin very much without tugging on the helmet. Maybe I would get use to this but I am more accustomed to a strap that goes under my jaw allowing me to chew gum or talk without taking off the helmet. The helmet is functional and meets the requires of the DOT 218 certification. There is no tag or label indicating that the helmet meets SNELL or ANSI standards. That is not required for DOT 218 certification but I have found it to be common in the US market. My view on the lenses is that they look comical. I have a set of black glasses for riding with a half helmet that look period appropriate and of better quality. If this is someone's first helmet, then this will get you started but I would expect that you will want to replace the glasses. ... show more

This German style retro half helmet comes with goggles and a mask, and I’ve been using it for casual cruiser and scooter style rides where I want that classic look. The quick release buckle is convenient and makes it easy to get on and off without fighting with the strap. The helmet feels light and the shell and trim look clean for the price, and the included goggles and mask match the style nicely. Padding is comfortable for shorter rides, but like most half helmets, getting the fit right matters since it sits higher and feels different than a full face. The goggles are a nice extra, though comfort depends on your face shape and how you adjust the strap. The 5-star rating comes with an asterisk. Amazon sent me the wrong size (L, when I ordered XL), so I can’t fit it on my head. My review/observations are about the materials, padding, and goggles/mask. Pros: - the helmet, goggles, and mask are made out of very nice materials. - the helmet looks good (matte black), is sturdy, and has a great chin and buckle system - the helmet padding is sufficient for a helmet like this, but I wouldn’t trust it to protect my head in a hard fall - the goggles are decent for the price. They are very lightweight (all plastic) and fit the head nicely with the adjustable strap. Cons: - none that I see. I just wish Amazon had shipped the size I ordered so I could give my impressions of the size/feel. ... show more
