  • Heated gear connections explained
This review ties together 4 products. Gerbing's Gyde 12 volt Jacket Liner-Powersport-Large/Regular Portable Temp Controller Powerlet SAE To Coax Female Cable (This is probably the one you want.) Powerlet (PAC-038) Coax Male To SAE Cable (Don't understand the need for this one, but someone probably wants it.) I'm posting this to provide some clarity around the typical connections for heated gear. I bought a Gyde Motorcycle Jacket Liner that's labeled Gyde Supply Co. and "Powered by Gerbing." I previously had an old Gerbing jacket from 2002, and it only had SAE (pigtail aka Battery Tender connections) for power. The modern jackets seem to connect to the power source using "coax" connections. It's much more common to run an SAE/pigtail/Battery Tender connection directly from your motorcycle battery than to run coax. So I needed to buy an SAE to coax converter cable. If you're running an SAE connection from your motorcycle battery, you want a Powerlet Coax Female to SAE Cable. (I mistakenly bought the wrong one at first.) Starting with the battery, here are the connections: Either 1 or 1 Alternate: 1) Fused battery terminal to female coax connector. This came with the new jacket. 1 Alternate) Powerlet Coax Female to SAE Cable. 2) The side of the controller that faces the power is male coax. 3) The side of the controller that faces the jacket is female coax. 4) The wire coming from the jacket to the controller is male. For 1 and 1 Alternate, regardless of which battery connection you use, you want a fuse on it. If you only use the jacket, use the 7.5 amp fuse that came with the jacket. If you have other heated gear hooked up to that power line, you'll have to do some math to pick the correct fuse. The jacket comes with a chart that spells out the amp draw for jacket, gloves, etc. I hope this helps you buy the correct gear in one shot! ... show more

  • Why is there no wiring harness included
Size: Large
I find it very cheep of Gerbing to not include a wiring harness that goes from the jacket to , in my case, the motorcycle

  • It works!
Size: Large
This was purchased for my father. He took a while figuring out how to hook up the lines and battery but, once accomplished, he wore it for some time and wound up sleeping in the easy chair wearing the liner. It was ... just right!

  • I like this heated liner and have put close to 1
Size: M/Long
I like this heated liner and have put close to 1,000 miles on my motorcycle while wearing it. The temperature range is good, and the liner comes with good quality plugins. The material feels like it is built with quality and I have had zero issues with it. I traditionally order a Medium in jackets and shirts so I ordered a medium. From what I have found, This liner is very warm if it is compressed close to your body. Wear a light layer under the liner and a shirt over the liner and it gets really warm. If the liner is loose then the heat is not directed straight to your body and most of the heat is lost. I am still learning what works best for me, but I would definitely suggest this product to others. ... show more

  • It works great
Size: Medium
I just used this jacket on a really cold day at high speed on my motorcycle. I have great winter gear over it, but the gear alone would not have saved me on that day. I would have frozen without this jacket underneath. I got it with the battery harness and temperature controller for Gerbing heated gloves as well. My face got cold, but my body and hands were roasty toasty warm. I didn't even need the highest setting. It was nice being able to set the gloves hotter than the jacket. Riding a motorcycle when the body is freezing is not safe. So this jacket is not just for comfort, it is good for safety as well. ... show more

  • I love warmth!
Size: Large
This thing is awesome!!!! I've been putting off getting heated gear for years and saw some Gerbing heated gloves on sale so I thought I'd give it a try. I was so impressed with the gloves that I bought this liner. Wow! Now I'm looking for cold weather to ride in just so I can use these. Along with the Gerbing dual controller I can set the liner and gloves at different temps as I need. The gloves plug into the connectors at the sleeve so I don't need the lengthy and cumbersome wires from the contoller to the gloves. Much simpler. There's no need for multiple layers that have to be stripped off and stored as the outside temp rises. I only need my mesh jacket (that's right: MESH) with the rain liner in it and this liner keeps me plenty warm. If you ride in cold or cooler temps, this liner is for you! ... show more
