    • Hondabond vs Permatex Ultra Grey. Hondabond won adhesion strength test, but was harder to dispense.
Hondabond vs Permatex Ultra Grey. Hondabond won my adhesion test. My project was to create a drip line under a aluminum plate being used as a chimney cap. So, I just needed a line of strongly adhesive, flexible RTV. I tested the two lines against each other. I let it dry for four days under ideal conditions - 78F & 50% humidity. Different than the PF test, the adhesives cured completely, though the Hondabond cured faster. The result was the same as Project Farm. The Permatex had a good seal, but the Hondabond was notably better. When I used a paint scraper to remove each, I made steady progress lifting the Permatex off, but the Hondabond was a real challenge to remove. I had to hack away at it, and even then, it wouldn't all come off the surface. Pretty impressive stuff. Ultimately, however, I ended up using the Permatex because I bought in the caulking tube size and it was much easier to distribute using a caulk gun. I had to run 8' of line and I didn't have the grip strength to squeeze that much out of Hondabond. My hand was hurting just squeezing out a foot of the stuff. That said, it is a "gasket maker" and the Hondabond would serve for that activity with excellence. Just that it's too hard to handle for big projects. Love, life, enjoy. ... show more

Hondabond is the bomb! nothing like it. You don’t just have to use it on your Honda. It’s universal can be used as Nissanbond, Fordbond, Chevybond you get where I’m going here.

I’ve been a mechanic for 30 years now and live by this sealer. It will seal just about anything and doesn’t leak. Prep your surface, apply sealent, and tighten. That’s it.

    • Didn’t help my problem
I bought this to use on a valve gasket as it was recommended to use before I replaced the whole part. The product came as advertised and was easy to apply it just didn’t fix my problem. Probably a good product for other things but didn’t work for what I bought it for.
