Very nice surfacing bit that can be used to flatten a CNC spoilboard or to flatten small slabs. I recently used this bit to flatten a new MDF spoliboard for my Genmitsu 4040-Pro. The bit worked great with the stock 75W spindle (using a 1/4" collet) and it left a nice smooth surface on the spoilboard. The carbide cutters on the bit each with four sharp edges. When the first edge becomes dull, you can rotate the cutter to expose a new, sharp cutting edge. The bit comes with a T15 torx tool which can be used to loosen the cutters so they can be rotated. This is handy since it would be likely impossible to access the screw heads on the two cutters which are positioned vertically with typical torx bits. Overall, this surfacing bit appears to be of good quality and so far has performed well for me. At $46.99, it is not cheap, but it should significantly outlast bits which have fixed cutters so I consider it to be a good value and I recommend this surfacing bit.

It tears through hardwood effortlessy. The carbide inserts are very sharp and seem to be holding up well. It's balanced well. A good reasonably priced router bit forhome woodworking projects

This is perfect for resurfacing the spoilboard on my 3018 PROVer. I like the replaceable inserts which can be rotated four times for a new sharp edge. This will be great to level the surface of the board for accuracy. Very sharp.

I ordered this 4-wing, 1/2" shank, 1-1/2" flattening bit from Genmitsu for my CNC. The bit has four cutters that are each 14 mm (9/16") square. The product description says they are 12mm cutters, but I measured 14mm with my calipers. There is a wrench included to swap out the cutters, and the corner of each cutter is numbered to help keep track when you rotate them after one side gets dull. The bit is a beast and works really well. Given the sharpness of the cutters' corners, you don't want to be too aggressive with the cut or you could get a catch. I've used it to flatten log cookies (end grain) as well as facing off boards (face grain). It works great in both situations.

The Genmitsu Surfacing router bit with carbide inserts is fantastic! I am an avid woodworker both professionally and by hobby. I have found on occasion the need for a wide router bit for various reasons. I find the straight flute cleanout router bits are ok but are more for cleaning up edges and flush routing and not for surfacing (maybe making a dado or rabbit joint tho). This router bit is perfect. My Bosch 2.25hp router took this like a champ. I swapped the collets out and this slid right in. I have in the past found off brand router shanks too loose or too tight for my router collet, but this is an accurate 1/2in shank (0.4997in according to my digital caliper). I set the depth to about 1/32 and did a little dance on the top of some old rough douglas fir. The surfacing bit did an amazing job. I had no catches even going over the knots. The bit seams to be rather well constructed and balanced. I experienced no awkward vibrations while using it. It did NOT come pre oiled with that sticky nasty protectant that I often see on tools coming from overseas. I plan on purchasing a router/cnc machine in the future and I will be very glad this piece is on hand! Pros: 4 inserts that can be rotated before changing them out completely. Accurate 1/2in shank Includes torx head insert removal tool. Con: No protective case. I refuse to use the large box it came packaged in (product package not shipping package), I will have to make a small protective box for it.

Great face mill for spoil board or slab cleanup, works well for flattening your stock to desired thicknesses. Cuts clean, stays sharp, and has replaceable inserts.
