I am quite pleased with the ease of assembly. Step-by-step instructions were clear and not confusing. However, the software provided wasn't very easy to load. After running two of the three sample jobs I was unable to figure out how to design in Candle. I switched to Easel on my laptop and found it very easy to use for design. I have yet to run a job using Easel, but I'm really looking forward to playing with it over the weekend. Yes, I'm going to have a lot of fun with my new toy, because this is what Big Boys do. Bough this over a month ago, could not get it to make any design. I wanted to make PCBs, but could only get it to drill down and then it cuts a tiny square. I have used several different cad and design programs, it wouldn't work with any of them. Maybe have the bug that some has talked about, I don't know and can't get help. I emailed Genmitsu for help and no response. I had plans to upgrade and even get a second unit for our winter home if I liked how it worked. That won't happen, I'll probably get another unit but it won't be a Genmitsu product! ... show more

So I have been intersted in one of these for a long time. Finally pulled the trigger and I wish I had done it sooner. The company Sainsmart was extrememly helpful with everything and the product itselt went together in a snap and has been a little tank of creation!

The machine works great. I purchased the y axis extension kit to be able to work on larger projects. I knocked off a star because when installing the driver from the usb my computer detected a trojan virus injector exe file. I downloaded the drivers straight from the Genmitsu website and they worked fine with no viruses. ... show more

As someone who wants to add a CNC to my woodshop for the ability to customize and batch products, this was a good way to start learning and messing around without breaking the bank on a machine I didn't know how to use and this definitely is helping me get started and learn how to use a CNC. What you're getting with this is something that can carve and engrave small objects (quite obvious for the size) so that you can either try sale models or make and engrave small things like necklaces, keychain charms, small snap-together boxes, etc, and with decent accuracy such that if you wanted to you could sell the results after you figure out what you're doing (let's just say that even after some months, I'm not comfortable with that yet especially since this is done in my spare time!) I feel like this machine does pretty well in terms of speed, accuracy, and usability as it does what I need and is getting me familiar with how to best program my paths so I can understand better when I'm choosing to be very accurate and have a cut take longer or speed up the cut at the expense of accuracy (or further finishing work like sanding. Overall, it's a solid beginner desktop unit that someone more experienced can use for small-item production and engraving in their shop and is a useful tool for that and learning. ... show more
