  • Skeptical? Don't be. This is a great buy.
Style: GM2000i
I couldn't justify the price of the named brand for my needs. I just wanted a small generator that I could take on my sailboat a few times a year to run an AC in hopes the wife would tollerate a few overnights on the coast. After a lot of web searching, youtube research, and review crunching, I decided on this little guy. What a great buy. It is light, quiet, and runs well. It is thoughtfully designed with all the buttons and switches clearly marked and a well engineered gas cap. When I got it, I put in new oil, ran it for the time prescribed, replaced the oil, very little shavings. I bought a little run meter so I could keep up with the hours. I haven't used it on the boat yet, but I've used it a couple of other times. Once to run a power tool, and once on a camping trip with our little camper trailer that doesn't have a generator. It ran the camper AC and lights just fine. A high doller camping trailer next to us had the high dollar named brand generator of the same size. Ours ran just like his, but ours was even quieter. Haha, that felt good. It starts within a few pulls when it's been sitting up for a while, and if I've run it within a few days, it starts first pull. I take it out of the shed to start it every few months just to make sure it will be ready when I need it. I haven't been disappointed yet. Buy it. ... show more

  • Best specs for the least money
Style: Gm3200i
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: I bought this generator in April of '22 and it is now November '22. The generator has been great all summer and went on several trips to power our 22' camper. With the hour meter I installed, I've racked up 40 hours of run time and its worked great, running the trailers AC and anything else we've needed. I still recommend this unit for the money. I'm also getting about 4 hours of run time with heavy load. I’m going to compare this to the Honda eu2000 I’ve had experience with and a Wen4500 that I recently bought. -You wont find more generator for less money than this right here- This gen will run 2800 watts continuously (on the upper end) and will surge 3000(or 3200) depending on if you’re looking at the box or the machine. If you’re curious what it will run, look on YouTube. Gavin’s garage has a great video of its capability. This thing is quiet - my Apple Watch shows around 59-61db at 23’ in grass. Mind you this is on eco, but it’s about as loud as a window AC from that distance. It’s touching Honda territory with more wattage. For this price and wattage, you can’t get any better. I’ll be using this at camp grounds to run a 13,500btu camper AC and some other items. This is also a nice backup in case power goes out. My previous gen, an open frame Wen 4500, had all the power I’d need and about 20 more db’s. Most campgrounds don’t like that so this genmax is perfect. As far as portability goes, full of gas it’s about 56lbs and is easily totable with the handle up top. If you’re looking for a strong and quiet generator for any occasion, this should be on the list. Granted, it’s cheap price may mean parts are not as durable compared to a Honda, but most of the internals on these generators are made in bulk and just rebranded. I’ve had zero issues yet. One thing I do wish this gen had was a display with some info. I went ahead and installed a runlead hour meter (8$) on the top. This allows me to see how much runtime the machines had for break in and oil changes. I did a lot of research over a two month period to find the right gen for my needs and this fits the bill in almost every way. If you’re on the fence, buy it! ... show more

  • EXCELLENT VALUE
Style: Gm2200i
The build and design quality of this generator are excellent. Both the layout of controls and accessories are well thought out. For example, the threaded funnel used to add and remove oil is very much appreciated. I was able to load test the unit and it meets the 1800 watt continuous load and 2200 startup load specifications. This generator even managed to start a shop vac with considerably more that 2200 watts startup power draw even though it was not consistent in doing so. The unit is also surprisingly quiet compared to what I was expecting. While I've only run it a short time so far, everything seems to be in order :0). ... show more

  • hope it doesn't die
Style: GM3300i
I got this unit late June, and went on a road trip with it. It's September and it's started dieing. Starts great. The inverter kicks in, and between a few seconds and 5 minutes the overload light comes on, and it shuts down. Called the 24 hour help line (closed weekends,8 to 5 PDT), and the guy was blaming the carb. Wanted to send me a carb. After further talks, he recommended sending a email. These guys are not set up to service this product. Note, I'm just starting on this service adventure, and will update it with my results.... Good or bad. Note that it worked great for 10-15 hours. Will update this review with my service results. Update: Moved from 1 star to 2 stars. My original review I was on the road. Being in and out of campgrounds without cell was a slowdown, but have called back, and via polite conversations, I nave a new generator being shipped. I think it was the same service guy, but I'm guessing he's been doing it long enough to get a clue. I've seen some reviews about bad service, hopefully, if you call in, and are polite, you'll be able to get your generator serviced. They're supposed to ship a new unit, and assuming they do, I'll run and test it and all will be good. If it has 3 stars someday on this review, then the replacement will have been running well for a significant amount of time. UPDATE: I've been calling genmax every few days for support now for over a month. They told me about a month ago, they would exchange my unit. They then quit returning calls, and responding. I did get 1 text saying they're trying to find a unit to replace mine. At this time, I have to recommend you avoid all GenMax products. If it dies, you will have no support. There warranty is a lie. They will blow you off. ... show more
