  • Impressed; solid
Size: No. 12 to 1/2 Inch Style: Standard
Impressed. It's 340 grams/12 oz so quite hefty. The chuck adjustment is smooth and clamps tightly. I haven't used it yet -- just have 2 shallow holes to turn -- but I'm sure this will work just fine. Box stated made in India.

  • It's really all you need.
Size: 2 Piece Set and Reference Table Style: Standard
Well made, nicely machine finished, holds well and saved a bundle. I've used much more expensive tool brands throughout my career and used plenty of General brand in an industrial capacity and these are all you really need for hand tapping and chasing.

  • Built cheaper.
Size: No. 0 to 1/4 Inch Style: Reversible
I originally bought the 2 piece kid that came with this tool and also a larger one. After losing a piece I ordered this to complete my kit again. This individual took is of lesser quality. They used cheaper metal in the handle so it came all scratched but it doesn't effect performance. Outside of that it's actually a really nice tool. I've used it a few times and they never let me down. I would purchase again despite the cosmetic flaws. ... show more

  • Work great

Everyone should have a set like these. This set will cover 99% of the taps yu would need to use in your home or garage.

This is a great tap handle. Worth every penny to get this quality. It will last forever.

  • A Class by itself.
Size: No. 0 to 1/4 Inch Style: Reversible
I took a chance and purchased one of the cheap ratcheting handles and got about what I paid for. Poor design, cheap construction, intermittent operation, and crooked. This one cost more, but well worth it for a quality product that should last for many years. Can't say how much I wish I had bought it to start with. I did not see any burrs, trash, or poor quality at all. Other reviews must have been for counterfeit products. ... show more

  • Great tap wrench
Size: No. 0 to 1/4 Inch Style: Standard
Machining is nice and well balanced tool. Jaws hold tap tight and true. Quality tool that will be a great addition.

  • Not great, Not Terrible
Size: No. 0 to No. 8 Style: Standard
I have an older 164 (larger size) and wanted to get this plus the larger one so I have a matching set. I'd bought some cheap imports (set less than $15) and they were really bad. Didn't want to shell out for the industry standard brand because I don't do much tapping - hard to justify $65+ per tap wrench. So I ordered these. Both this and the large one were made in India...and the quality just isn't there. The knurling is excellent and the threading is good, but the finishing across the board is inconsistent - the metal has different appearances and look to be made of different steels, but the worst is that the jaws that hold the tap are not finished well - they're not even and this one does not hold a tap firmly - it wobbles front to back. To make matters worse, there's significant swarf where the handle was pressed into the body of the tool. It will require a file to be removed. The larger one is better about holding the tap as there is more surface to grip, but again, very uneven finish across the tool and the jaws are finished poorly, and are again uneven. My older 164 has very crisp finishing on the jaws and holds taps perfectly. General used to make really good tools from a value standpoint - you got more than you paid for, and now with these I'd say the gap is closed and the value is not as great. ... show more
