  • Pretty colors and long lasting!
Color: Neutral Nude Set
Great colors, went on smooth and lasted two weeks. I’ve used 3 of the colors and really like them all.

  • Great price and quality
Color: Pink-Bright Red Pink Set
5/5 because this is a great quality nail polish that only requires two coats for it to dry well and cover the whole nail with the color effect as it is on the bottle. You can’t beat the price for quality of colors and nail polish performance.

  • Cute!
Color: Brown-Chocolate Brown
Cute colors especially for fall! Dries very fast and stays on for a long time. My nail did crack after a day or two because I am very hard on my nails. But great brand for cheap nail polish!

  • Revised @20 days: I am impressed Revised @9 days: 4.5/5: thick but durable and super fast dry.
July 18, final update: This is solely in regards to the complaints about peeling, chipping, and nail damage. For reference, I've been doing all of my usual activities, so these nails have been wet, dry, extra dry, soaked, covered in oil, dug through dirt, scrubbed, picked labels and safety seals, and given infinite good scratches to the dogs. The first chips on both nails happened some time between the night of the 16th and the afternoon of the 18th. ~20 days after I painted the nails. I hung in there for this review. The bottom edge of the polish has grown out with my nail, as expected. It's lasted longer than I usually would go between manicures. And my nail, where the polish finally chipped off, is completely undamaged. I'm still impressed, and surprised about it. I'm torn on the four vs five star review, but I'm going to stick with four because of the sediment, thickness, lack of advertised translucency, and the old fashioned brush. (And lack of SDS...) Apart from those issues, this nail polish is excellent. I do think that part of the longevity has to do with: - not flooding the cuticles - cleaning up the edges with acetone as I went - prepping the nails with a light buff and alcohol wipe - using multiple thin layers (as thin as the thicker polish would allow anyway) - letting each layer dry completely before adding the next. I do not think the longevity has anything to do with: - capping the nails (I didn't. I even clipped and filed these nails after applying the polish) - base coat - top coat - activity level/hand washing/cooking/oil 7/23: One last update now that I've got around to removing the finally chipped polish, which I did not pick at, not even a loose flake: no staining, no damage to the nails, no weird dryness or texture underneath, no weakening, and it came off *far* more easily than UV gel, and significantly more easily than normal nail polish as long as I made sure to give the pad a good saturating with acetone. (I used lint-free wipes for the acetone). You'll know if you're not using enough acetone if the pad sticks to the softening polish. Just use more. It's cheap. July 6 replacement set additional detailed review, and revision from 2/5 to 4/5. Final rating (at this point?): 4/5 stars I'd give this 4.5/5 if possible. If the polish was a little less thick, there had been no sediment build up on the back side of the bottle (in both sets), and the brush had a more modern shape, this would easily be a 5/5 polish. I requested a replacement from Amazon and sent back the first set of polish. The replacement set is significantly better. Still some general issues with application, but so much better.
The excellent part of this review is that even with the initial problematical application, this polish is so long-wearing, I'm getting better wear out of it than I did with UV gel in the past. (See pictures immediately after painting and then 9 days later.) No chips at all + ok shine after more than a week (middle and ring finger in 7/6 image), minimal damage after curing/drying (pinky finger in 7/6 image). Adding a new coat of top coat now and then would probably keep the nails looking fresh the whole time. (Though the base coat doesn't seem to have made any difference in longevity for me.) The chip resistance/staying power is amazing here. I can see distinct new fingernail growth, especially on the pinky finger in the 7/6 images (with an additional coat of the original color, applied the same day as the original photos were taken). It looks like this polish is going to need removal and repainting due to regrowth rather than due to chipping, and that is fantastic. Even the member of the household who usually has chipped polish or gel within hours of any application had over three days of chip-free wear out of it. Also fantastic, in general, but frustrating in practice, is how quickly the polish dries. As long as you do an entire nail with two relatively quick strokes, it goes on fine. The tricky part is getting a full layer down neatly before the first stroke starts to dry, which happens very quickly. More than two strokes per nail generally requires a trip back to the bottle, which can be just long enough that the overlapping strip has started to cure. Adding another brush stroke at that point pulls and bunches the first one.

Base coat seems to make the polish start to cure faster. I didn't manage to smudge anything before it was dry, while typing in between coats, but the viscosity of this polish just really complicates the application. If you prefer putting down thin layers, this polish may still not be for you (too thin and it's very streaky, then lumps). The necessary layers are thick enough that I needed to clean around the edges of my nails in between coats, because waiting until the nail was dry or drying meant the cuticle clean up took forever.

The thickness also means that the smell sticks around for at least a day, even if the polish layers behave as if they're fully cured long before that. Usually, fully curing/drying thin layers prevents that, but it's impossible with this formulation. Gellen just remains unusually thick compared to its competitors, though the replacement set of polishes are more workable than the first set received, and I think the original clotting and streaking problem was either mostly or entirely due to age. To see if there was any translucency from the new set, like the images attached to this set of polishes in the carousel, I tried one nail with one layer from each bottle, darkest to lightest (forefinger, 7/6 image), after attempted thin coats of one color resulted in opaque polish. While there is barely-there translucency with strong lighting (the result was a nice looking mid-dark red), I'd still call it an opaque polish, functionally.

I appreciate that this color is no longer described as jelly on the listing, even if its attached photos in the carousel still depict jelly polish in these colors.

One thing worth noting is that this is definitely not traditional nail polish. (Neither good or bad, just an observation.) The end finish on this completely air dry polish has the slightly soft plastic feeling of UV gels rather than the hard glaze feeling of traditional nail polish. And I did pick up two little gouges on my pinky fingernail that probably wouldn't have happened with fully dry traditional nail polish. Either way, the gouges disappeared after I added fresh layer of top coat, so as long as someone doesn't mind the tactile difference, the finish probably doesn't matter.
Like the original set, this set of polish also had significant sediment build up on the back side of the bottles when it arrived, particularly the darkest two shades, which was 2mm thick at the thickest, but it doesn't seem to have affected the polish (unless this has something to do with the unusual thickness?).

I plan to add some thinner to one of the bottles and see how that goes in terms of laying down layers and incorporating the milky sediment back into the polish. If it makes a difference, I'll update this review. Original review 6/27, 2/5 stars Title: Possibly got a bad batch, or old, but the polish is clotted and opaque. Not jelly. We were rooting for you, Gellen! Ordered: Set of jelly nail polishes in an assortment of reds plus two top coats. Received: Set of clotted opaque polishes in an assortment of reds with milky residue in the back of each bottle. Also, two top coats. The good: The glossy top coat is actually pretty nice. It's very shiny and gel-esque in feel. Nothing wrong with the consistency or application, although I would have appreciated a flat brush over the very old-school round brush. I'd forgotten how hard they were to work with, even when the polish isn't clotted. The clear coat was definitely compatible with the polishes. Then again, so was the miracle "gel" from another brand I experimented with. It's impressive how well the clear polish is holding up. The polish was also easy to clean up around the cuticle with a pointed q-tip. Minimal staining which was mostly gone the next day. The bad: The shades weren't jelly. :( They were regular opaque reds, and they were quick drying in spite of the thick viscosity. The ugly: The nail polish is thick and clotted. IYKYK, it wasn't a pretty surprise. Besides the clotting, there's opaque milky sediment on the back of all color polish bottles which suggests they've been lying there for a while. The thickness led to the brush drying out quickly with any attempt to apply the polish in layers as thin as I'd prefer. In the photo, the incredibly streaky forefinger and the gloopy ring finger are the attempted thin layers and accept-your-fate thicker layers respectively. The bright red polish, while thick, with the milky residue in the bottle, and with little clots, was nowhere near as bad as the dark red. In spite of all of that, I still wanted to find out if the polish cured into a jelly, so I picked out the clots as well as I could in between coats. The three layers of top coat and good old 100% acetone disguise a multitude of sins. (I really do like the top coat.) But alas, the polish is still fully opaque. Gorgeous colors. Just opaque.) Hopefully the set we got is a fluke, because the colors are so nice, and being able to mix and match them to customize jelly reds would be fantastic. We requested a replacement instead of refund. Poorly painted fingers crossed, and we'll update the review once the replacement comes. ... show more

  • Fun colors but slightly different in person.
Color: Z-12 Colors Bright Neon Set
While easy to use, this polish didn't really match the photos on the website. I was hoping the green was more vivid and a true Kelly green, but it's more subdued and dull and reminds me of grass. I was hoping the blue would be a bright Royal blue, but it's got a slightly purplish undertone. So, I'm a little disappointed the colors don't quite match up, but the polish is good quality. I'm a nail tech, so I can speak to that. ... show more

  • Everyone nails are different
Color: Pastel-Jelly Candy Set
This nail polish works for me. It stays at least 5 days and more. I used to get beetles and it only lasted 1 day. All people nails are different. Some holds oils , some are very dry. I had to wipe my nails with alcohol first and it tend to stay much longer with no chipping, and no stickyness. I know going through perimenopause changes my nails off and on from sometimes oily and nail polish coming off in 1 day, to being dry and it staying on for days. If your are a woman in your late 30 or 40's this may be the case why some polishes even this one may not work for you. I had to keep searching til I found one that works for me. So that would be my suggestion. I can't say go get it and it will work great for you. But I can say shop around if it doesn't and find the one that does. Thankyou and hope this helps.. ... show more

  • Beautiful colors
Color: Dark Red Set
Purchased for the pretty shades of reds. Good value for the money. Colors were gorgeous & well packaged. The color dries quickly 2-3 coats to get good coverage. I used 1 red color and the color sadly flaked right off after a few hours. In all fairness it may be perfectly fine on other people as I always have retention issues with polish. I have left a salon and had a chip before walking to the car hence the minus 1 star. For me it was a dud but others have had success with the product. ... show more
