It runs the 64-bit Ubuntu desktop and server along with a huge plethora of available Ubuntu/open-source Linux programs and software tools. Using a 13" HDMI WaveShare monitor, it provides dazzling desktop video resolution. It isn't as fast as, say, an Intel desktop machine, but there's always a tradeoff between speed and power consumption, size and heat dissipation limitations. a few days ago I noticed the device wasnt booting after less than 2 months of use. The screen said it couldnt find the SD port. When I went to verify the SD card was fully seated, the SD port burned me. It was so hot that it left a mark on my finger. The device does a POST so it isnt dead but it cannot find the SD port. The device is useless and I cant afford to buy another at the over inflated prices these days much less even find one anymore. *******************updated review********************* turns out it wasn't the SD slot on the board but the actual SD card causing the problem. I replaced the SD card and all works well and does not get hot.

I bought this to build a pihole. Had zero experience with rpis but this was drop dead easy to assemble and get a raspberry pi OS installed. The only caveat was everything was set to UK English and I am in the US. Could be that I installed the wrong locale also. Bad part was I didn’t figure this out until I had to SSH into it and couldn’t. But I digress…This was my first foray into rpis and was far easier than I thought. Recommended!

The prices will never return to what they were, so I'm not judging the raspberry pi here, but rather the kit offered by the seller. It was everything I needed to get going. The case is actually a pretty good one, for what it's worth if I need another kit, I'll definitely be coming back to this.
