This is a mechanic's tool set with a large number of wrenches, sockets, etc. The tools are chrome plated and there is such a variety that there are enough to do a large number of types of work. The tools are in a plastic box that features drawers for a large amount of the tools. Because the tools are in a plastic case, they are quite portable, although the case itself does not appear to be of great quality. I feel like a big drop or if it were to get slammed by someone, it would come apart. The wrenches do appear to be decent quality and durable, so although the case is the weakest link in the set, I think it's still a good price for the kit.

It covers 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive with a great mix of Metric and SAE, making it easy to handle just about any automotive or mechanical task without hunting for extra tools. The tools themselves feel high quality—ratchets are smooth with fine tooth engagement, sockets fit well, and everything feels durable and professional grade. The 3-drawer storage box is a big plus: it’s well organized, sturdy, and keeps everything easy to access instead of buried in a blow-molded case. I really like this tool set. It's got every mechanical tool I could need all in a durable semi portable case. At a hair over 40LBs the kit isn't overly heavy but it's not a small kit. The case itself is injection molded plastic and honestly is the part of the kit I like the least. The drawers get latched closed by two plastic covers on either side of the case so they don't open accidentally if you've got it in a work truck or something. However in a garage setting they get really annoying so I almost always leave the flaps open so I can just open the drawers. The drawers themselves seem to be designed to be taken completely out, otherwise you can't get to get tools in the back of the drawer very easily. That said the organization is good and it's easy to see if you forgot to put a tool away. So many tool kits lately skimp on the wrenches, but not this one. I love that I can walk up to one box and get a wrench and a deep socket without having to go to another kit. I'm able to take apart just about anything including changing spark plugs without hunting down another adapter or extension. I like that it's got sockets and the wrenches in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive of both metric and sae sockets. The case keeps everything laid out in a super easy to read layout. Putting tools away is easy because the labels on the tools are big enough and correspond to their slots in the drawers. The piece count is a bit inflated because every bit for the screwdriver is counted, but you never know when you'll need a specific bit so I guess it's warranted. I've been able to car repairs, small engine repair on a mower, and a few other mechanical things with this kit. It's a versatile and the tools are well built. Everything feels like it will last a long time.

This is a complete 250 piece tool set, containing socket wrenches, hand wrenches, bit drivers, nut drivers, and Allen wrenches. It includes bits for 1/2”, 3/8”, and 1/4” socket drivers. They use a snap ring to keep the wrench together. All 3 socket driver sizes, in both 12-point and 6-point teeth bits, in both regular and deep socket bit lengths, have both SAE and Metric bit coverage with one exception — there are no 12 point 1/4” socket bits in metric sizes. The polished chrome bits lock solidly into the socket wrenches using a push button, and can’t be attached or removed unless the release button is pushed. The hand wrenches are the same size on both the open and closed ends. They are nicely balanced polished chrome that fit comfortably in my size Large male hand. The 1/4” bit driver supports the 27 bits that span flathead, Phillips, and Torx driver bits, and also supports the 14 SAE and Metric nut driver bits. The driver is magnetized and successfully holds onto the bits, even when shaken. There are 13 SAE and 9 Metric Allen wrenches. They are slightly sticky with an oil coating. Each set comes in a foldable plastic case. The Allen wrenches firmly stick in the case without falling out. The storage box has 3 shelves, and each shelf has cradles specifically sized to hold each individual item. The hand wrenches are solidly locked in place, but the socket bits will fall out if the storage box is tipped over. A few bits had fallen out during shipping, but most pieces were still in place. The box has two plastic side flaps the fold over to secure the shelves from falling out. But these flaps lock in by relying on small tabs — these tabs could easily abrade over time and eventually fail to lock closed. The hinge on the back side of the top cover uses a metal core — more durable than an all-plastic hinge. The box and full contents weighs a little over 41 pounds. The overall set comes with a lifetime warranty, but the bits and bit sockets have a 1-year warranty that covers manufacturing defects only. The seller provides a toll-free telephone number and website link. Aside from the locking shelves concern, this set a top notch professional-quality set, comparable to Craftsman tools I’ve used in the past. There are less expensive sets out there, but the quality of this set justifies the price. I like this set and will use it to replace the current toolset I own.

It got a bit jumbled up, but came with everything. The storage box is solid, with handles to help move it, bur I wouldn't stand on it as the plastic is still a bit soft. You might also have to rearrange if you travel with them as they tend to jump around in the box when you move them around. If you don't have a set of common Metric and SAE tools, then this is a great pickup for the breadth of options. Everything worked well with the included wrenches and snapped into my torque wrench without issue. I didn't notice any abnormal wear on the sockets from use. The button release style wrenches were great, and I couldn't force the sockets off without pressing the button. The tools (except the Allen wrenches) have a chrome finish, which will hopefully prevent rust, but I'm also in the desert, so soaking them in water might be a tad difficult. The drawers are held in place with removable plastic blocks that aren't very finished or clean when compared to the rest of the kit, but will work for a quick chuck into the trunk to go help a buddy out.

I bought the GEARWRENCH 257-piece mechanics tool set because I wanted a complete kit that covers most jobs without constantly searching for missing tools. The set includes 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive ratchets with SAE and metric sockets, along with extensions, bits, and wrenches, so it feels very complete for working on cars or general mechanical repairs. One thing I really like is the 3-drawer storage box, which keeps everything organized and easy to find instead of digging through a plastic case. The ratchets feel smooth and the polished chrome tools are easy to clean and resistant to rust, which makes them nice to use in the garage.
