  • GEARWRENCH 21 piece set SAE GEARWRENCH 21 piece set SAE
These are great, they have good durability in my opinion and experience while using them, come with a great number of sizes including shorts as well, great pricing for a very good size set. Always love the foam nothing is better than that nice orange and black. Ratcheting is great on both size doesn’t take long. Worth it I’ll say. ... show more

  • Phenomenal Product Line
The entire Gearwrench product line, packaged in foam trays is exceptional. The tools themselves are great quality, the foam is heavy duty and very attractive, and overall I am very happy with my purchases. I just wish they would provide their entire product line in foam trays. Great value for money.

  • Great Quality and compete set with excellent foam holder Great Quality and compete set with excellent foam holder
I have a couple of plastic cases of Craftsman wrenches that no long latch (use a large binder clip to hold them closed :)) that I have been using for over 20 years. I take great care of them and still have them all but the cases have definitely seen better days. They are great for when you need to bring a complete socket set with you somewhere. BUT, I recently inherited some classic cars form the 1950's and am in the process of designing a nice garage with tools. It is time to buy a tool cart with drawers where everything has its place. Snap-On are just too much for me and in my research GearWrench tools got very high marks. I saw these trays for SAE and Metric Wrenches and sockets and decided to pull the trigger and buy all three. These will be put into my tool cart draws when I get them for the new garage. These came in the white boxes like the one shown in the picture. The foam as measured is 20 3/8" across and 13 1/2" deep. This is the same dimension for all three trays of tools. Now for the tools: The sockets, are bad a$$. They have every size you could need in all three ratchets. The ratchets have 90 tooth sprockets in them which is excellent. They have a heavy solid build feel to them. Comes with Multiple extensions and swivel adaptor. I was drooling over this for a bit tonight. Some other review noted it didn't come with impact sockets but I don't think I have ever seen a set that was mixed so no surprise there. The wrenches, again every size you could need with ratcheting box ends and a full set of stubby wrenches for tight spots. The foam holders, everything fits snug in their place. They are very clearly marked and the foam and cutouts are high end, very clean. As noted in the beginning am just starting to build the garage layout and tool boxes so next I need to get the cabinet to place these in but am looking to use these for the rest of my days and then hand them down to my son later in life. I realize for the average do it your selfer these are a bit pricy but if you can swing it, you won't be dissapointed. ... show more

  • Excellent Ratcheting Wrenches, Very complete set Excellent Ratcheting Wrenches, Very complete set
I really like this set of wrenches. It is very complete, going as small as 1/4" and much larger than most sets, up to 1". That's even before you add in the stubby ratcheting wrenches. I use stubby wrenches all the time working on cars and motorcycles, they're great for those hard to reach areas, but I've never had a set that ratcheted. Having them now might not quite qualify as game changer, but being able to ratchet in confined areas now comes pretty close. I have a set of metric Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches I bought years ago, and it's nice to see that so far the quality seems the exact same. I was impressed with those and these are just as nice. The finish on the wrenches seems to be nice with no obvious imperfections. The fit on nuts and bolts is spot on as you would expect from Gearwrench as well. The 72 tooth ratchets function well without any major rotation of the wrench to get it to ratchet. As far as function, and fit and finish, I can't find any faults anywhere yet. I also think these with their lifetime guarantee are a nice budget friendly, but still high quality, alternative to the brands you can buy off a truck. I also have to mention the foam organizer. It's awesome. Each wrench has a nice custom cutout for each size, and the whole organizer fits nicely in a standard 26" tool chest with room to spare. It doesn't slide around in the drawer, so if you needed to you could add additional tools/sizes around the outer edges. The total height is approximately 2" tall between the foam height (~1.25") and the additional height of the wrenches above the foam (~0.7") which will fit in all but the most shallow toolbox drawers. It also manages to look nice. I'm sure the yellow/orange will get dingy at some point, but until then, it looks really good in a toolbox. Usually the "organizers" that come with most tool sets are gimmicky at best and not worth keeping, but if you have the room, this organizer is one to keep for sure. ... show more

  • Good wrenches. Not sure about the price.
These are expensive. There is no way around that. They are also quite high quality. Are they three times as good as my Craftsman set that cost 1/3 as much? Well, they don't feel like it. Maybe they are a little better? They might actually feel like the exact same thing. I am really scratching my head, trying to find the difference here. I actually just remembered that I have a Kobalt set in my garage that also cost 1/3 what this one did. That one is actually kind of bad. It has a lifetime warranty, but I have used it several times because the ratcheting parts keep coming out. I actually bought the Craftsman set, hoping that it would be better than the Kobalt set. Thus far it has been, and it cost the same amount. Well, I got tired of trying to analyze these and I decided to use them a bit. I put together some shelving and I worked on the suspension of my truck. Well, they worked fine. I didn't kill any of them. They worked...exactly the same as the Craftsman set. They look, basically exactly like the Craftsman set. They cost 3x as much as the Craftsman set. I haven't had to use the warranty on the Craftsman wrenches even once. I'm starting to think that I would never buy these. I know a lot of mechanics and tradesmen. I took this set around to several of them and asked them what they thought about the set and the price. I heard the same questions: "Made in America?" - Nope, China. "Did it come in a fancy case or something?" Nope, some foam that fits in a drawer. "How's the warranty?" Lifetime, so that's good. Everyone had the same opinion. These aren't bad and there's nothing wrong with them. They are just overpriced. I honestly cannot come up with a reason why I would buy this set over the Craftsman when the Craftsman costs 1/3 as much. ... show more

  • Great in tight spaces. Fewer wrenches than the metric set.
Note: This review is the same as the one for the Metric version of the Gearwrench Ratcheting Wrenches. I found no significant differences in quality or performance between the two, and both sets are top notch. I've been using these Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches for a few weeks, and they are awesome. I tried out most of them in some capacity, and they all work perfectly so far. My only other experience with ratcheting wrenches is a basic Harbor Freight set that (as may be expected) doesn't quite compare to this GearWrench set. TLDR; Premium set of wrenches. You get what you pay for, but the average DIYer is not as likely to gain that much benefit over decent quality mid-range wrenches. What I like: - The foam tray sits perfectly in my tool cabinet, and I don't have to come up with a better solution for storage and organization. The EVA foam grips the tools just enough to hold them in place; they can be easily removed for use, but won't bounce out if your toolbox wheels roll over a bump. My other standard wrenches sit too close together in their holder and are hard to access, but that whole set can be tossed into a tool bag to be used on the go. - The ratcheting movement is very smooth on all the wrenches I worked with so far. - These seem to be able to handle a decent amount of force relative to their size. Hoiwever, I have not used them on anything requiring unusually high torque. - Really nice to have the large sizes included in the set for the rare occasions I need them. What I don't like: - Barebones packaging allows the two large wrenches to move around during shipping. None of my wrenches appear to have been damaged by this, but I wouldn't be surprised if a box occasionally endures a longer journey and/or rougher handling, causing those two heavy pieces end up flying out in transit. - Labeling on the foam tray may wear off easily. ... show more

  • Great Set of Ratcheting Wrenches Great Set of Ratcheting Wrenches
I have a moderate collection of Gearwrench tools, starting out with the 120xp flex head ratchet set. Since then, I've been sold on their products. In this set, the stubbies include 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, and 3/4. The full size wrenches include 1/4, 5/16, 11/32, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8, 15/16, and 1". It isn't quite a complete set, but it is incredibly close. The chrome looks great! The size stamps are decent, but I have an older set of Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches that had bigger stamps on them. The stamps are about average compared to other brands of wrenches, but nothing special. The ratcheting mechanism is nice and smooth, with a little bit of slop in them. They seem to be consistent from wrench to wrench, so they appear to have good tolerances. The mechanism probably isn't as tight as a Snap On set, but this set is also much cheaper, and still quality. I really like the foam trays for these wrenches, and they are going to lead to me buying a larger toolbox. A foam tray is a massive upgrade from a blow molded case that either gets thrown away, or goes into a stack of cases in the corner of the garage. I wish all tools came with foam like this, even though I likely wouldn't have the room for it. Overall, I think Gearwrench is a great value for the cost, and this foam tray add on makes this set truly awesome. I was psyched for these to come in the mail, and they didn't let me down at all. ... show more

  • I love ratcheting wrenches I love ratcheting wrenches
I have this set and a set of similar craftsmen ones. These feel very similar in weight, quality, and even the tooth count. These are 72t meaning they don't have to turn as far before you can engage them. I think it says 5 degrees. Its a pretty short turn of the wrench so its nice. Having the long set and the stubby set is really nice as there's quite a few times a smaller wrench comes in convenient for tight spaces. The foam organizer is a nice addition and I really appreciate it. But I won't be using it because there's to much space between wrenches and it takes up to much space in my toolbox. If I'd used it, it'd be the only wrenches in that drawer. Overall, I'm really impressed with these wrenches as I'd always considered gearwrench to be a cheaper version of craftsmen but it really holds it own. Its got a lifetime warranty. I've never had need to use one but if I do, I'll update back on here on how well it goes. Update 1/16/24: I've been using these regular for over a year now. Love them just as much now as I did before. they work great and are easy to use. I'll be keeping an eye out for more gearwrench stuff versus craftsmen. ... show more
