I needed a gear puller for the compressor gear on a cat engine. I didn't want super expensive because I would use this tool only a handful of times. This blew me away on the first use. It's built very very well, my only issue is the arms stop a little far out from the center, so 1" or so is about as small as you can get onto—my picture is right at the minimum distance. But the whole thing is way better than any bargain tool, and being able to do triple or opposed configuration is really useful. Great tool. ... show more

As a “shade tree” mechanic I buy mostly Gearwrench stuff nowadays. I ordered this puller set to remove the brake pulley from a 1969 Sears suburban transaxle for a rebuild. Pulley has probably never been removed. There wasn’t enough clearance to get standard 3 jaw pullers that I bought years ago off the import boat. The lower profile jaws easily cleared the case. The indexing feature made setting them up a 1 handed affair. The most difficult part was figuring out how to install the jaws in the yoke. A couple hits with my GW 17mm impact on my high torque Ridgid 1/2” cordless, and the pulley popped off. Saved me lots of time and headaches. ... show more

Ok, this is a cool tool. Unlike every other gear puller I've used in my life, there is no struggling to align the three legs and the ratcheting mechanism keeps them in place while the screw is tightened. There is no flopping around of the legs like other pullers. The quality of the parts is top-notch and the fact that it breaks down into an easy to store case is icing on the cake. The case is strong and well made and should last for the life of the tool. Sometimes it's the small things, like not fumbling around with floppy gear puller legs, that make all the difference when you're already annoyed with a project.     • Slick twist on an old tool- definitely a keeper!
It's basically a decent standard puller set with some cams on the ends of the arms and plates attached to the top of the puller body to provide the friction. They appear well made and the improved function is awesome. No more needing 3 or 4 hands to set the puller up. You put the arms where you want them and they just stay there...slick!! Instead of buying a junk puller set, buy these and never look back. Nice case as well. Instead of dreading setting up your puller, you'll be looking for new places to use your new tools.
