This reliable heat-treated steel drill chuck operates with less than 0.004 inches of runout (0.1 mm) for maximum drilling accuracy. Our JT33 arbor taper fits perfectly onto any JT33 drill press, lathe, or mill and can be installed with the simple tap of a rubber mallet. The 3-jaw-chuck opens and closes without the use of any keys or tools. The chuck is compatible with any 1/64 to 5/8 inch diameter drill bit. Our universal design fits onto a wide variety of drill presses, including WEN drill press models 4208, 4210, 4210T and 4212.

Purchased this for my Wen 12” drill press. Easy install, just make sure you firmly set the chuck in the arbor. But loading is simple and tightens well for standard size bits. Runout is as advertised. This is a good product, but it is no an good fit for a table top press, it is at least 4 times the size of the keyed chuck and your ability to drill is greatly reduced as it size prevents you from loading any size above about an inch thick item. This is a nice chunk — smooth action, and very little runout. I measured 3 thou; my spindle accounted for 1 thou of that. It’s big, as others have noted — that’s inevitable with a keyless chuck, since it has to be tall enough to get your hands around, and of a large-enough diameter to give your hands adequate torque to get it tight. I have a few keyless chucks on hand drills, where they work well, but this was the first time I tried one on a drill press. The problem is that one needs three hands to use it: one hand to hold the drill bit in place, a second to hold the spindle still, and a third hand to tighten the chuck. Unfortunately, I have just two hands — silly of me not to notice this before I ordered! With a hand-held drill motor, this isn’t so much of a problem because one can hold the drill motor horizontal so that the drill bit does not fall out while one is tightening the chuck. This chuck might work well on a horizontal drill press, or on a vertical press with a spindle rotation lock. I can’t recommend any keyless chuck on a hobby-level drill press. ... show more

I adapted this to fit in a Shopsmith by milling out to a straight 5/8" hole to fit the arbor. Fantastic fit! My hands are a little arthritic so I added a backup spanner wrench just for leverage.

Fantastic is the best word for this chuck. I have a Grizzly Shop Fox W1668 drill press that I picked up years ago and I've never been happy with it's accuracy. When I finally started paying attention and getting serious about it I realized that the chuck that it came with was terribly lopsided. It's a JT33 fit and this replacement chuck fits perfectly. Make sure to clean everything thoroughly or it will slip off. I was concerned with how well it would grip big bits and such for woodworking but I've spun a 2" Forstner bit with no issues. The accuracy is fantastic, approximately .001 runout. I was hesitant because of the price but I'll encourage you to take the plunge. ... show more
