My old in ground speakers were wired with direct bury low voltage wire. Something went wrong with my receiver and it lost a channel. I'm not sure if a short damaged my receiver (I cut into the wire and it looked terrible) but I decided to replace my speaker wire anyway. Seems to be decent enough wire. I got the 12/2 CCA version to use as a power wire for a solar GMRS repeater. about 25 feet of this line is running from the charge controller down to a battery that is stored underground. My connections are all soldered on with two layers of head shrink. I also added a PET expandable braided sleeve along the entire length further add protection.
