  • Fantastic, Sturdy, Well-Padded Case
Style: Dreadnought Pattern Name: Flight Case
This case is fantastic - very well-made, sturdy padding, and strong. I bought it for my son who was traveling overseas. Ultimately we didn't need it so I returned it, but if we do need this again, I'm buying this exact model. Great value (I'm sure there are cheaper, but why risk shoddy construction?) Terrible story around this, though - my son left his guitar in the case after he test fit it. Unknowingly, my partner packed it up for return and left the guitar in the case. So far Amazon has been incredibly helpful in trying to track it down, so we're crossing our fingers that we will get it back eventually. • Solid case with truly responsible interior padding (<--from a professional custom case maker)
Style: Bass Pattern Name: Flight Case
We bought this case for a custom-made bass, essentially a P/J instrument with a neck from a Roadstar 2. Not only am I a custom instrument maker, but I have extensive history in instrument case design, having built custom woodwind cases for clarinets and saxophones, and having been commissioned to build a custom waterproof carbon fiber and titanium case for an Amati viola worth over a million dollars, so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to protecting instruments. I assumed I'd be making extensive modifications to protect our custom bass, but in fact, so much of this case is responsibly designed that I only had to make one custom pad. And that's a pad that I'd recommend ANYONE make who is serious about protecting their electric bass in this, or any case. The only exception might be if the body of your instrument already touches the case at both strap buttons so that the body can't move either direction in the body cavity. Even then, a custom pad to ensure that the strap buttons would not take all the load if the guitar were to shift toward the head or tail would be wise. If the pad can also be shaped to ensure that the body can't shift side to side, all the better. With the pad customized to the bottom curve of the instrument, the body can't shift in any direction, and the majority of the neck is also protected against shock, case-fall, etc. The tuning head sits suspened in open space in the case, so that no part of it touches anything, even in an impact. This is ideal. We also checked that the height of the body relative to the neck means that no undue shear load will be put on the neck-body joint in the case of a flat fall in either direction, or the equivalent impact. So, with the fleece upholstered grey pad you see in the photos, our cherry burst cherry bass is beyond snug. Highly recommend this case Highly recommend an end pad to take up all remaining available motion for your instrument! ... show more

  • Gator TSA case for Gibson Les Paul
Style: Les Paul Pattern Name: Flight Case
So you can buy this 100% made in the USA case that is about the best TSA LP case you can get, unless you want to spend 400+ dollars, OR you can buy the Gibson made in China (and not very well) for 50 bucks more. Some Gator cases are not great, however this is NOT one of them. This thing is a perfect fit, tons of padding, hard shell case, nice lockable latches and a great handle. Since I have to travel with my Les Paul, spending 199 for a case to protect it is a no brainer. ... show more

  • Good product but the cheap plastic hasps detract from the rating.
Style: Dreadnought Pattern Name: Flight Case
Initially, I was a little concerned as although I carefully measured my Yamaha FG800 guitar, it is an extremely snug fit in this case. The case is well-padded and appears that it would protect your guitar well but the plastic hasps cause me to wonder how well they would hold up to the abuse that luggage is exposed to by baggage handlers and the handling process. I feel as if they could be sleeker and not stick out as much as they do. I could envision one or more of the hasps being damaged during a flight or during the baggage handling process. As a result, I will probably never take my guitar on a flight in this case. Seems to defeat the purpose of a molded, hard shell case with the emphasis on TSA approved locks if you can't feel comfortable with the durability of such. Overall, I am not disappointed but I would not trust this case going through baggage on any mode of transportation. maybe that's just an irrational fear but if I have this concern with a relatively inexpensive guitar, you may want to do some additional research for a more expensive guitar. ... show more

  • My bass guitar survived 4 flights!
Style: Bass Pattern Name: Flight Case
I bought this case to transport my electric bass two connecting flights to my destination and two flights back. After the trip there are a couple small scuffs on the outside, but the guitar was totally fine. There is enough room inside for straps, cables, tuner, etc. The case is not overly large or heavy, and pretty easy to carry. United let me use this as my carry-on bag, but then let me check it through for free, once at the gate, and at the counter on the way home. I put an AirTag in the case to keep track of its location. This is wayyyy better than trying to find room in an overhead bin, and I will definitely use this again. Very happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • Safely Got My Guitar Through Two Flights
Style: Classical Pattern Name: Flight Case
Couldn't be happier! I've had 2 flights so far and my guitar got through them safe and sound - not a scratch or other damage to be seen. The case itself saw a lot of abuse through the trip, as I can see the scratches on the outside of it, but it is SUPER sturdy and there was no room for my guitar to be rattled around or otherwise damaged. I bought this for my classical guitar but if I decide to fly with my electric or steel string, I'll most likely buy another Gator Case for them. I would absolutely recommend this case. ... show more
