  • Snug, fit my Sigma/Martin electric acoustic
Size: APX Guitar
Pro: Sturdy, light weight, snug fit, feet on the bottom, feet on the side, thick furry interior, neck support, small profile, looks nice Mediocre: storage space, straps has plastic clamps and buckles, price Cons: don't have anything negative to say really.

  • Lightweight, protective case for my 00-size 12-fret
Size: Classical
I entered the dimensions of my guitar in the Product Finder at the Gator website and found that the Gator GL-CLASSIC (classical-size) case should fit my 00-size, 12-fret, steel string guitar. Upon receiving the case and placing my guitar in it, I thought that it may be a tad shallow for the guitar. But, I was able to zip the case easily and without trying to force anything. Another reviewer mentioned the CA Prop 65 warning on the case and a faint "chemical-ly" smell. These things concerned me too, though I may not have noticed them had I not read the previous review. Anyhow, I called the company and spoke with a very helpful, and courteous person who was able to answer my related questions. The "chemical-ly" odor, I was told, was the smell of the glue used and that it would dissipate pretty quickly-- especially if the opened case were allowed to air out. (Setting it out in a sheltered area for a day did the the trick). Regarding the CA Prop 65 warning, I was told that the company has not identified any harmful materials in the case, but elected to include the disclaimer for legal reasons. Searching the Gator website for "prop 65" gives a more detailed explanation. With my intial concerns allayed, I am very happy with this case. I carry my guitar out to play with friends and/or in jams nearly every week. Before getting this case, I was always faced with the decision of either carrying my guitar in its heavy, plywood case, which is a bear to carry and which tweaks my back and shoulder -- or to carry it in a gig bag which offers very little protection, and worry that I'll slam it into something or damage it somehow. Now I can carry it comfortably and worry-free. Thanks Gator! PROS * lightweight (much lighter than the plywood hardshell case that came with the guitar) * seems very protective (unlike my gig bag) * fits my guitar * economical * friendly customer service CONS * intial concerns (These have since been alleviated. see above.) * backpack straps are not comfortable (should probably be redesigned). Slinging the case over one shoulder though, with a single strap, is comfortable and suits my needs. Mostly, I prefer to just carry the case by the handle. ... show more

  • Strong Sturdy and Lightweight.
Size: 6/12 String Dreadnought
I love this bag for taking my guitar to lessons or having my guitar with me in the truck. It is a great alternative to having a bulky Hard Case as it doesn't take up quite as much room. When you open it up it has the look of a hard Case, with the Pocket for accessories and Plush fabric on the inside. VERY Nice bag for the money. ... show more

  • Classical case is smaller than published dimensions!!
Size: Classical
We have a mandolin case from the same series, so I knew the overall quality of this Gator case before purchasing. It's well made, surprisingly lightweight, and should be quite protective of any guitar that fits properly. Do note the criticisms of the backpack straps, and replace the straps with something that doesn't come apart. So, this brings us to the question of size. To quote the old saying, Size Matters. We bought the Classical size case for a Martin 000-18 and a Martin OM-1. THE CASE IS SIGNIFICANTLY SMALLER THAN THE INDICATED DIMENSIONS both here and on the Gator website. In fact I went to the Gator site and used the "case finder" app, entering the exact dimensions of both guitars. The suggested cases included this one. I measured carefully and looked at interior dimensions on several other sites. One of the other sites has smaller dimensions than listed here -- but still large enough to hold my two guitars. The guitars *do not fit*. Our Yamaha Classical fits perfectly, of course, but the guitars that *should* fit based on the printed inside measurements do not. I can force my 000-18 into the case, but that's not very protective - every shock gets transmitted directly to the guitar. The OM-1 is the same body size but has a longer neck, and doesn't fit at all -- too long overall. I wish Gator made a 000 or OM size case in this series. Edit: measuring the inside of the case, the Body Length is 19.5 inches (not including the cutout for the end pin), the lower bout is 15.5, middle is 10, and upper bout is 11.25. Overall length is 39.5. Height is about 4 inches since there's a little extra in the lid and a cutout for the saddle. What appears to be tripping me up is the body length and the shape of the upper bout with the 000-18. The OM-1 is physically too long to fit in the case even though the body area might loosen up - the printed dimension for overall length is 41 inches, but the actual length inside is 39.5 (again, not including the end pin.) Hope this helps. If you have a classical guitar in the general size of the old Yamaha, it's a great case. ... show more
