Pipe threads are designed with a taper that will seal pressure as they are tightened. No amount of teflon paste or anything else can seal the valves I received. The square shoulder immediately after the male threads seats before the threads do. Tried on 1/2 dozen fittings, all were the same. Buy these. They are super strong and smooth and they don't leak. Nice quality finish. Of course a 1" handle is harder to turn than a 3" handle (3 times as hard) on a full size ball valve, but you knew that when you bought miniature valves, right? I have no trouble switching them back and forth, which I do on a manifold to deflate and inflate offroad tires up to 4 at a time. ... show more

the threads seems to be slightly off.. you end up needing a TON of teflon tape to get it to not leak.. and even then there is a very very slow leak. otherwise a sturdy product.

Some comments said these were low quality and the threads were not sized correctly. Do not believe those negative comments. I suspect they must have ordered the wrong size valves because the ones I received were excellent quality and the threads were spot on.
