  • Smaller Than Stated. Best of the Vivosmarts!
Color: Black Size: Small/Medium Style: Monitor
UPDATE OCT 01 2018 - GPS City, the seller sent me, the shipping label that Amazon would not. Thank you GPS City! Now that I have a size a large I am able to finally use this. First let me say that even the large is not sized as Garmin states. However, it should be large enough for up to 8" wrists. Second, this thing rocks. I owned the very first Vivosmart and wore it until it died. The VS2 and the VS3 were much wider and uglier than the original and I abandoned the entire wrist worn activity tracker altogether. The VS4 is the same size as the VS1. It is as wide a typical Livestrong band. The features are simply awesome. In particular the Sleep Tracking and Pulse Ox are the highlights. I can see how well I am sleeping at night and how much oxygen is in my blood. As of now, I only have three nights of data, but two of them show a pattern of poor sleep and a solitary and short drop in SpO2 below 90% each night. It isn't low enough or long enough to suggest sleep apnea, but it is something I want to monitor - as I rarely feel refreshed in the AM. As usual, the notifications and vibrating alarm are stellar. Even the step/stair counts have been spot on for me. My only complaint is that the main screen is limited. I would love to see a home screen that had Time, Heart Rate, and maybe Steps, but I would settle for just the first two. If you ask me, this should have been the successor to the original Vivosmart. I have 185mm wrist and this won't fit, despite what Garmin says. Garmin says the small/medium will fit wrists that are 122 to 188mm in circumference. This is false. As you can see in my photo, the whole strap is just shy of 190mm long. The last hole is at 180mm, which 8mm less than the wrists Garmin says it should fit - and 2mm shorter than it needs to be in order for the excess to fit the 10mm long clasp. I am not sure who at Garmin took the measurements, but they apparently didn't consider that the last hole is unusable, as is the second to last. since it isn't long enough for the clasp to be secure.. At best, this will fit a wrist 175mm or so. The bummer is I tried to return this, but Amazon expects me to pay for the shipping, despite the product not working as stated. This is Garmin's fault, not mine. ... show more

  • Switched to this from a Fitbit Versa. Here's how it compares for me...
Color: Black Size: Small/Medium Style: Monitor
After having two Fitbit Versa's die on me, I decided to try something else, and the Vivosmart 4 seemed to fit the bill. First off, the Vivosmart battery life is so much better than the Versa. This is huge, as I was really getting tired of having to charge the Versa every couple of days. The Vivosmart is small and comfortable, but the screen is a pain to use. Its very difficult to navigate, and is impossible to use when wet - yet you're still supposed to use it for swim tracking. Generally the measurements I get from the Vivosmart are different than the Versa. My sleep is way up with Vivosmart - it says I'm getting about 7.5 hours a night, while I averaged about 6 with the Versa. I'm pretty sure the Versa is more accurate here. The Vivosmart will often mark me as sleeping if I'm laying in bed watch TV or reading. My step count and floors climbed tends to be lower on the Vivosmart. Again, I think the Versa was spot on here - I live in a two story house and go up and down the stairs all day long, so I have a pretty good idea what's accurate. The Vivosmart under counts floors by about half. The Vivosmart does have the pulse ox and I'm struggling with sleep apnea, so this is huge for me, though I wish it could fire an alarm when ox levels sink below a threshold. The last thing I'd like to mention is support. Fitbit's support was pretty good, there's lots of activity on their forums with lots of helpful advise. However, I think its really strange that they would just send me a new Versa without wanting the original unit back - don't they even care why its not working anymore? I'd think they'd want to study their broken / defective units to better understand what went wrong. My experience with the Vivosmart forums has not been good. They're nearly vacant, and issues are only sometimes addressed by Garmin staff. I wrote them about a Vivosmart issue 5 days ago, its had 35 views and zero responses. So, that's about it. In a nutshell, I'm happier with the Vivosmart overall because of its comfort, battery life, and pulse ox, even though the Versa seems more accurate. When Fitbit lights up the pulse ox feature on the Charge 3, I'll probably get one and revert back to Fitbit. ... show more
