This watch is exactly what we were hoping would do. Not only does my 8 year old love it, it has become a very helpful parenting tool. The app and watch are user friendly. My son loves to see his steps, activity goals and chores completed. He uses the timer for every including brushing his teeth. The alarms have probably been one of the most useful tools since it helps him to know that when the timer goes off it’s time to go up to get ready for bed, to wake up in the morning and to get ready for school or come back in from playing. He used to struggle with these but when the watch tells him he can’t argue with that. He loves to surpass his activity goals. And the fact that I can add and reward chores is very helpful as well. This watch has dramatically improved my sons awareness of time management, goal setting and keeping in task. I definitely recommend it. Garmin is a wonderful company. I bought this because I needed something to track my steps tell the time and help motivate me. Sure I’m a 31 year old woman, but I’m telling you I can wear this all the time shower and all and never even need to think about charging it! Starwars is great but not really my identity so I did buy a different band for it and I love this thing! I cannot say enough good things about this. My 7 year old kid asked for a "step tracker" for Christmas. He specifically wanted a Fit Bit. After doing some research I found this and it is for kids and comes in awesome colors. I ordered it and I was nervous because there are mixed reviews. But it arrived on time, packaging looked good. I wrapped it and stuck it under the tree. My son opened it and immediately wanted to use it. So it was as simple as downloading an app and syncing the tracker up to it. I have an iPhone and it DOES work with iOS (there are reviews that say that it does not, but it definitely does) I can set alarms on it for him, I have set up chore reminders (feed the dogs, brush your teeth, bleh bleh bleh) it tracks his steps and "active time" throughout the day and he wears it at night and it tracks his sleep as well. It is waterproof, and yes we have tested it, he even showers with it on. He wears it to school and he loves being able to check the time whenever he wants, when he writes the date on his papers he can look at it and it also shows the date. All in all we love it so far and I would highly recommend this to anyone. Super easy to use and also a good learning tool for any child. ... show more

This is the 3rd vivofit jr we’ve gotten for our 2 kiddos. My son got his first one when he was 6 and it lasted for almost 2 years. It only died once we had to replace the battery and went swimming - somehow water got into it and that was it. It was simple to set up with the app. My only frustration was with trying to sync it- sometimes you had to turn Bluetooth on and off for it to sync, but that was. Very minor complaint. Since we had such a good experience with the first one, we got my son a 2nd one at 8 yrs old and my daughter her 1st one at 4 yrs old. These were both easy to set up but one was left at a hotel and the other was eaten by our puppy. We ended up upgrading our son to the Fitbit charge for his 9th bday and decided to go the inexpensive route for my daughter. My son is very happy with his, but my daughter’s cheaper option was junk so we decided to go back to the vivofit jr again for my daughter. She was excited to get it - we received the Minnie Mouse one. We attempted to set to up for basically 2 days and it would never fully sync. I kept getting a software install notification I tried downloading the software it nothing seemed to work - deleting the app, deleting the devices, turning Bluetooth off and on, turning phone off and on, nothing worked. I was ready to return it but checked reviews one last time. I ran across a review that sounded similar to our issues. iPhone 11 apparently will not sync, download the software the vivofit jr needs to run. The other user said they attempted to sync the watch to the other (older) iPhone and it worked. So I tried to download to one of our iPads (an iPad mini 2) and it worked! Download was exactly what I remembered it being for our previous watches and so far, so good. My 5 year old loves it! ... show more

My kids 4&6 and they have been using the vívofit JR for the past year, they used the first vs. and now the new one. Great improvement and we hope the screen will survive the kids activity, the first version after three months of use a black circle appears in the middle of the screen. The new version comes with a better screen and so far kids enjoy it. The functions are basic and I think it covers everything for kids. The tracker designed for kids and the did great job in that. My 4 yrs can navigate through the menu, he knows the time, keep tracks of chores. My 6 yrs can easily use all the functions in the watch, and she make sure to achieve her goal. Best thing, kids will get a watch and tracker without you worry water dirt or broken, it is one solid piece with great quality band, easy to wash and clean. You don't need to worry about the battery or recharging, which as a results kids don't need to remove from hands everyday, our first vívofit JR still working after 11 months of use. For kids, I think this is one of the best tracker if not the best. If Garmin can just add a Location Locator "Not GPS" to this watch it will be the ultimate kids watch, the locator will be a tool to use just in case the kids take the watch of their hands, and to locate the kids in the mall or playground for extra insurance for older kids. ... show more
