  • Five years later and still "laundry-proof" Five years later and still "laundry-proof"
Color: Black Style: Music Edition
I bought my Venu Sq back in 2021 specifically because it has on-board music, so I could leave my phone at home and still have music on my runs. I love all of its other features too. It’s been a fantastic daily driver, but I just gave it the ultimate accidental stress test: a trip through the washing machine and the dryer. It came out looking great and working perfectly. If you want a fitness watch that can survive real life (and the occasional laundry mishap), this is it! To me, it says a lot about Garmin quality. ... show more

  • Great smart watch
Color: Black Style: Music Edition
This is an excellent smart watch. It can't do the super fancy stuff that the Apple Watches can do, like take a call on the watch, or type replies to texts, but the battery lasts for about a week, you can do almost anything you want with the health tracking/fitness routines, you can load your spotify playlist onto the watch, and connect your earbuds so you don't even need a phone. There is also an 'app store' in the Garmin app where people have made apps for the watch to add all kinds of functionality. I have had it for 3 years, and still wear it every day. If it ever goes bad I would get it again Definitely get a protective cover for it though. The one negative I would have would be that since there is no raised lip around the screen it is very easy to bang it into things and scratch it. The covers are like $5 a piece though, so NBD ... show more

  • Love love love Garmin watches! Love love love Garmin watches!
This is my 3rd Garmin watch. I have 2 additional Garmin Vivomove 3 watches. One in black and one in white. I am so impressed with Garmin and their line of watches. I dont have an Apple phone and I dont like the Samsung watch style, but once I saw Garmin a few years ago I had to give it a try. This watch is alot different from my other watches, it's digital and looks like an Apple watch, but the commands are alot different. They are more aimed at fitness, which is ok by me. I dont really need to be notified on my watch when I have a like on Instagram or a random email comes in, although I do have that option! You download the Garmin Connect App and sync your watch via Bluetooth. Once you set yourself up an account, you can program which notifications you want and also what health apps you want to use. You cannot make or receive calls on this watch, which is fine with me-you do get notified that you have a call coming in and who it is. And the battery life is amazing, I got 3-4 days on a full charge! This is a great watch without the price that Samsung and Apple charge. And it looks so stylish and unique with anything you wear! I would give it a second look if you are looking for a watch that does what you need and looks great on your wrist! ... show more

  • Needs to be charged almost every day.
Color: Black Style: Music Edition
Nice watch. Its a battery hog compared to others I have used in the past. It has a quite a few bells and whistles to eat up a charge. But it does charge fast. The menus take some getting used to. I still haven't figured out the best use of the body battery gauge. The O2 is off by about 3-4% points. Probably from my leathered skin. I compared the O2 sensor with two battery finger sensors and two sensors in the doctors office. The O2 sensor is a big time battery drain. I quit leaving it on continuously after the first week. Once you have that figured out its all good. I love the app. I had previously owned two Vivoactive HR watches. They did not hold up for more than a year each, (face cracked, and the other moisture from rain) Im rough on electronics. But were much better with battery life and had a less convoluted menu. But no O2 sensor. At first, on the Venu, all the bells and whistles become very addicting. But after some time I have learned what stats I use most often and the less used stats are more for curiosity. Durability may be an issue with this Venu watch considering it is a step up from the Vivo and looks to be the built similarly. I will find out. I am a retired 63 yr old avid hiker, thruhiker, backpacker, mtn biker, mtn climber, xc skier, tele skier, rock and ice climber, kayaker, fly fisher, ground sleeper, viewer of outdoorsy videos, blah blah blah, so these watches get pushed to some extremes of hot, cold, freezing, jarring, direct sun, pouring rain and accidental beer spillage. I own a garmin gps, an inreach gps mini, and watches. I have used other brands but find Garmin to be my go to. I'm planning on treating this watch with more respect than I did my past smart watches. ... show more

  • Exceeded my expectations. Exceeded my expectations.
Color: Slate and Moss Green Style: Music Edition
I got the the Venu SQ over a month ago and it has done exactly what I wanted it to do. There are so many Garmin watches out there and it took me a while to land on this, but I’m glad I did. 1. Watch is comfortable and compact, without being too small or dainty looking, and surprisingly light weight. 2. Counts all the bio-info a causal user would want (steps, heart rate, stress level, more). 3. BIG ONE for me, it works as a portable music/podcast player for Spotify. I can run without a phone and have music on the go, with Bluetooth headphones and it sounds great. This has only glitched once on me while on the go. The setup is the most difficult part (set aside 30 minutes to get it up and running) and getting used to the controls can take some trial and error but ultimately, I got music on my watch! Love being phone free on walks/runs/rides. 4. Works for golfing (and many other sports), gives me yardage to holes, and seems fairly accurate. Just make sure to download the app to your phone to sync/download courses before you play. 5. Battery life is strong, and charges fast. CONS 1. Step counter differs about 10% from my phone. Which is correct? Split the difference? 2. Controls can be frustrating to get used to but ultimately get the job done. 3. Weather app frequently doesn’t work. ... show more

  • Reliable smart watch
Color: Black Style: Music Edition
I’ve worn this watch every day for over 3 years including on jogs, in the pool, and rainy hikes, and it works just as well today as the day I bought it. Incredible quality, especially considering the price. The fitness tracker is my favorite I’ve used for jogs, and being able to download Spotify playlists to the device so I can jog without my phone is really a great benefit. The perfect smart watch for someone who wants a simple, reliable fitness tracker. ... show more

  • Fourth Garmin Watch, Love It!
As a family of runners and active people, we are always looking for ways to improve and get better. We have purchased Garmin Forerunners 55 and 255, and two of these Garmin Venu watches. This style was purchased for both my wife and daughter, with this specific one (with music) for my wife. With 5 kids at home and an active lifestyle, sleep can become hard to manage. One of the best ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle is a good amount of sleep, exercise, and a balanced diet. This watch can help in two of those categories. Every morning you can check your sleep score to determine how your night's rest was. This is a great tool to manage your weekly rest schedule. It also keeps track of your daily exercises from a long list of options. In the app, you can see how well you are doing with your rest/exercise goals. Garmin is hands-down the best watch brand for the active lifestyle. Better than anything that starts with an "i". Battery life is as good as any other GPS watch. We can typically go one to two weeks between charges...depending on how many runs we're doing per week. Download music to your watch, throw on some Bluetooth headphones and you're also set for your long runs. This is a great option if you like to listen and run/exercise. If not, then consider saving a few dollars and skipping the music option. If exercise is secondary to looks, then this watch is still an excellent option. It's something you can wear with leggings and an exercise shirt or going out on date night. Two thumbs way up for the Garmin brand and especially the Venu for the special woman in your life. ... show more

  • Heart rate way off
The main thing I bought this for is to monitor heart rate while hiking. Its reading is way off for me - as confirmed by a pulse ox and manually counting. The watch kept telling me my heart rate was over 100 just around the house. I have nsvt but my heart rate generally runs low. So I'm very sensitive when I have palpitations - when this watch kept saying my heart rate was over 95 I wasnt buying it. That brings into question any other readings or parameters. I find the watch annoying and frustrating to use. The watch face does not interact very well for me. I'm constantly trying to tap it and it wont register so then the screen shuts off. Another annoying thing is it tells you to start moving around when I'm doing housework. I guess you can shut that off but I've really lost interest. Hopefully Garmin can offer some fix for the reading since its past the return date. The positives - watch is comfortable and I don't wear jewelry. I forget its on. Its a large size so its readable if you have vision issues. I've had no problem with that. ... show more
