I was quite excited to get this Garmin for my RV as my Old Rand McNally was no longer being supported for the LifeTime maps I had payed up for many years ago. Anyway, I received the Garmin and found it to be sleek with a sharp picture. I was looking forward to using it on our 4 month trip. 1st thing I knew to do was to update it (who knows how long it had been sitting on a shelf somewhere). I tried to update it through WI-FI several times several different networks, no luck. I tried to update it using my Mac, Oh, I found out you need a special, not supplied cable for that. So I borrowed a PC, no luck. I called Garmin. Got some whiz kid on the phone, explained everything to him and he insisted it had to be the WI-Fi network (problem) I was on. We argued about that and he offered no solutions. Simply stated a GPS that doesn’t update puts me in no better position than I was $600 before. So I returned it to Amazon. Ive had Garmin products in cars, airplanes and boats, and always loved them. This unit I believe was defective and the support whiz kid was of no help. ... show more

Great unit. Good easy to read graphics and print. Quite intuitive. My first use involved an 1800 mile trip with multiple stops. I entered the entire trip in the planning route area. It was easy to add rest stops, food stops and gas stops on the fly as we drove. The 10 inch was not to big.

I used to use Garmin GPS devices because that's all there was. They were very helpful for me because for a while I did a lot of traveling. But eventually I upgraded my automobile and it allowed me to incorporate my telephone GPS and display it on a screen. Still, I miss many features of the Garmin GPS. The maps were more distinct and seemed better for my purposes... except the screens were so small they were no longer big enough to glance at while driving. Some years have gone by and I didn't realize there was such a huge Garmin device available. It's a huge chunk of cash, but for me it's worth it and this has features I find very helpful. I use it traveling for landscape photography. I can set it so instead of "speed" I want shorter distances... which takes me over all the backroads and to places I find much more picturesque. I am beyond happy with the Garmin I purchased for our camper. It has everything and more than I expected. I love that you can load in your exact camper with height and width and it will send you on a route that is good for your own vehicle. You don't have to worry about short bridges and narrow roads. Also has all the local campgrounds and information along with the things you get on an average Garmin like restaurants and gas stations. This one included rest stops too.     • It comes with the wrong 12 volt auto plug!!!

I have used 4 other smaller GARMIN units with no problems what so ever. However now apparently GARMIN can not seem to comprehend that they need to include the correct auto 12VDC plug with their RV 8" and 10" screens. This is the second time I am returning their GPS because the plug included goes to a different model. The connector end that fits into the auto dash is ok, the plug end that is fit into the GPS unit itself does not. It does fit an older smaller model Garmin. I first ordered the 8 inch model for over $400, had to return it for the same problem. I next tried this 10" model for over $600, wrong plug again. I am returning it too! Nice going GARMIN, you have lost over $1000 in sales for your poor quality control. ... show more

I love the large screen. When driving a Mobile Home, you don't want to keep your eyes off the road for too long. Very reliable, easy to use, and the updates are great. I have made a few long trips with no issues. I own 3 Gamin, and I love it.

This is a horrible product. After spend $700, you find out you can not update this product while you are traveling, yet it needs constant updating. And the first time you try to update the maps, it deletes the maps you have and then you can’t use it at all. Then you have to use a computer to update the device, which I still can get to work. But unless you have access to ultra high speed Internet, you can never update it, and who has that access traveling. So very disappointed to waste money on the junk. ... show more

This Garmin GPS unit is NOT READY for use! Endless hours of time will be required make this GPS ready for the road. Map + software downloads take many hours even with a fast high-speed internet connection, Ridiculous!
