I’ve been a Lowrance guy the majority of my adult life using their side scan all the way back to the first release. This was my first venture into Garmin because I wanted to utilize livescope and the Lowrance units I put on my Kayaks were always the Hook 9 (not compatible with Lowrance active imaging). Found this Garmin for a hell of a deal when just wandering through Amazon and figured I’d give them a shot. The controls are very intuitive, touch screen works flawlessly, boots up quickly, no noise when running an electric motor, and not a thing I can find to complain about.     • Garmin stuff is great - the seller is not. Be careful who you buy from
Stuck with a $650 Marine GPS I cannot use because the mounting options are oversized and cannot fit the console. I did an Amazon search using specific criteria to ensure they would fit my boat, and this GPS was offered as the very first option - free shipping and it says they accept returns. Okay, sounds good. Nope - does not fit. Tried to swap it out or return, but the seller GPS City charges you for return shipping and a restocking fee of 20-50%, with penalty verbiage in the return agreement for a different reason which also charges 50%. They could claim it was my fault for not having the correct measurement prior to purchase, but easy returns are a top reason many of us use Amazon - they have to be easy and cheap because Amazon gives faulty results to searches and you cannot be expected to understand all of the variables involved in every purchase, as a result you are certain to buy something of the wrong size. If you want to buy from City GPS - make sure you have the right item, or you will be stuck with the wrong stuff. ... show more

I have run Lowrance for many years. Tired of them not working after a few years and realized Garmin has improved and the ease of navigating menus is so much nicer. Absolutely love the touch screen!
